hopefully the fuse protected anything else from getting damaged, and you can just rreplace that or the powersupply.

Try replacing the power supply before sending it off to be fixed.

The PSU does not need to be replaced. The solder joints for the external plug piece have cracked and are causing the sparking, smell, and black mark on the underside of the board. Get some flux and flux those points that look burned and then heat them with a 30 watt iron... it will fix it right up.

If your not experienced with soldering, you can still repair the PSU. On the bottom, the connections are very easy to indicate and repair (they're giant compared to the D0 spot on the motherboard). What kind of PSU is it? If it's the one for v1.2-1.5, I can give you the picture of the circutry.

The part that got smoked is cause on the top, there is a static cross-link (meaning: two points meet where they aren't supposed to) via a spark (ex. static electricity, rub your feet on a rug, touch someone, SPARK!). Then the connection went down mabye 5mm and KABOOM!!! The spark. I recommend that you desolder the power adapter on the PSU and replace it with some other kind (that happend to me and I used a PS1 PSU adaper, works fine).

Also, part of the PCB side got smoked... bad.

I feel kinda sorry for you cause a spark that reaches that distance, I dunno.... is about 2500 VOLTS!

Be lucky your XBOX didn't feel the pain of that...

If you want to repair it, it might be kinda complicated, even with a good soldering iron.

Directions:

1) Flux the bottom burns slightly, don't go mad on flux.

2) Remove the adapter via desoldering (look on Google on how to)

3) a. Install the new adapter (make sure it fits the cable OR buy a matching cable)

OR

b. Cut off the connector part of the power cable going into the XBOX and
directly solder it on (it doesnt matter which way but its better that it is
connected based on normal connection).

4) Connect it to the power outlet and test it.

If it doesn't work, I can repair it.

Also, it seems that the spark did some desoldering for you. lol.

PLEASE REMEMBER: PATIENCE AND TIME!!! DON'T RUSH!!!
