Ah..No..I have a Samsung also and the games load fine, just not on the Hitachi.  I'm almost 100% sure its because of the 001 and 003 difference.

Can you get the games to boot with softboot tricks with the hiatchi drive, cause i have exact same setup except media code is MKM 001 and can only get my games to boot either with the tricks or from a very cold boot (the system has to be off for like 20 seconds with game inside)

Damn there goes my theory..Yeah I can boot them with the cable trick (I knew I could do that, I was just hoping it was the media types)....What speed did you burn your 001 disks?

So it don't make sense why the same setup works with some people and others it doesn't.  It could be the different burn speeds.  It can't be the hacked firmware or would not work for everyone with the same setup (or work for everyone with the same setup).  There must be something different between the same model Hitachi drives.

I know, I have a 47d too, I am having the exact same problem as you. Other people's same setup lets them play backups as if they were originals. I don't think it's the media code on your disc since it's probably just a small certified burn speed thing. I tried burning my media at 2.4x and 1x. I have tried adjusting the pot on my drive. Try booting that backup when the game is in the drive, but the system has been off for like 30 seconds, then boot up, it should work most of the time like that, but its still bugging me, we gotta figure this out...

Check what I found out, this is quite interesting...

Heres a quick list of the discs/burners I have tried and the results on my Hitachi 47DJ with V1.1 firmware:

DVD Burner: NEC 3500a (not sure of firmware)
Dvd Media : Ridisc (Ritek D01), Verbatim (MKM)
Burnt at : 2.4x
Soft: CloneCD 5.2.9.1
Working : Nope, just get the dirty disc error.

DVD Burner: Pioneer 111D (1.23 official firmware)
Dvd Media : Tuffdisc (Ricoh), Datawrite Platinum (CMC MAG 001)
Burnt at : 2.4x
Soft: CloneCD 5.2.9.1
Working : Boots great without any tricks, although takes a few secs to think about it before it springs into life.

DVD Burner: Pioneer 111D (1.23 official firmware)
Dvd Media : Ridisc (Ritek D01), Verbatim (MKM)
Burnt at : 2.4x (tried 8x on the verbs as well as 2.4x)
Soft: CloneCD 5.2.9.1
Working : Need the reset trick, but will boot and play without any probs after that.

Notice how he has our exact setup, but the verbatims give him the same problem as us, but when you uses the other media, it works perfect... hmm... it seems like if we find media with the media code Ricoh or CMC MAG 001 then we're set. That's my best guess since I have tried everything else.

One of the 47D 360s I had did not read Verbatim's burned on a Pioneer 111d no matter what speed I burned them at (2x or 8x)..I switched to Memorex and it worked.

And this is more proof to my theory, I am coming to the final conclusion that I have an unlucky 47D drive that doesnt like verbatim that much but the alternatives instead...

By the way, could you get them to softboot with the verbatims?
