Wxripper "data Error 0 Cyclic Redundancy Check
« on: June 24, 2006, 08:00:00 PM »

I am getting this error when I am trying to back up my Call of Duty game.  I am using a Harry Potter Movie that is 8.5 GBs to hotswap.  Heres the picture:

(IMG:http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/9319/asd1xl.jpg)

That's after I edited the layout and changed the first 3 lines to "D" instead of "C" since it didn't work the first time that I tried.  But even edited, it still doesn't work.

Any ideas?

You're problem is not the layout file since it's copying the video partition fine. It looks like a problem reading the second layer of the disc. Try a different drive.

Which one is the video partition?  How can you tell?  The reason I am asking is because I just want to do this once, since I already made backups with the Xtreme method, therefore all I need is the video partition.

The game partitions are the 2 paritions that are 1783936 in size. The first one is, well, the first game parition, and the second is the second game parition. Maybe you have a scratch on the disc? As you can see from your picture, changing the first 3 partitions (the video paritions) to Dummy wouldn't do anything to help you, as your problem doesn't involve those partitions.

Just to clear something up, what you need are the GAME partitions, as those contain the game. The VIDEO partitions (first 3) can be dummied as all they do is display that 'Please put this game into an xbox 360' message.

It sounds like you're trying to to make a valid video partition to use with your games so you can burn with ImgBurn. If that's what you're trying to do then follow these steps:

Rip any game using WxRipper using this layout file:

C19408
D1072
D109343
J0

This will create an image of the video partition that is the same size as "blank360.iso" that comes with the xtreme package except it will have the valid video files.

You can then take the image you ripped and rename it to blank360.iso and use it instead of the one that came with the xtreme package and when you build the games and you should be all set.

Thank you PSoffand neomod.

Now I have a new problem.  Seems like the hotswap worked the first time (I had to slam it a bit to get the mechanism of the DVD drive to lock) but now it won't read at all when I try to hotswap.  The drive still works, I can read DVDs, CDs, etc but it just won't read it so I can dump it after I hotswap.  Think that I may have damaged the drive that allows it to hotswap?  Id think that if that was the case then the drive wouldn't work at all.

I don't think it's damaged, do you get a CRC error now or does it just lock up the program? If it locks up the program, then make sure after you do the hotswap you press "spin disc" first and wait like 20 secs before trying to dump.

If you get a CRC error right away, then save the layout file, edit the first 3 lines starting with C's to all D's and then load it up and try dumping then.

It freezes, but if I wait for awhile, it will finish.  I either have to CTRL ALT DEL or wait for it to finish, which everything ends up with 0s.  Such as:

Start: IPB Image
Finish: IPB Image

I do push the spin disc after I hotswap and I have done it without.  Not sure what's wrong.  I have tried it over 20 times already and it won't work with hotswap anymore.  Drive still works regularly however.

This is not the same Cyclic Redundancy Check error that I was getting before.  Before it actually dumped part of the game, now it doesn't recognize the CD at all, the drive doesn't light up or spin.

Yah I get the same issue when trying to hot swap and dump with wxRipper. The sectors in which the actual game is on will not copy at all (and neither will the first three sections, but I just dummy those). The jump sections says Done but thats it. I'm using Saving Private Ryan DVD which I know is large enough as its the biggest TOC possible. I still get the cycle redundancy errors tho too.

Your hub is not raising back up properly when you hotswap using the pinhole. Take the top of the drive off and swap that way.

Hi,

Im getting the same exact error. Read somewhere that hotswap wasnt working? Is that really the case? Tried opening the dvd drive, but coudlnt figure out how...which is why trying this with the pinhole. Is this really a problem with the pinhole method or could be something else?

nfs hp contains ap2.5. Your drive cannot currently dump ap2.5. You have to use the latest ABGX to patch the game. Make sure to set ABGX to level 3 and it will take care of the rest.

Didn't realize this thread was started back in 2006. wow! lol
