setting booktype won't be an issue. I think the xbox is just very fussy when it comes to reading them!

Kinda funny how -R used to be the way to go with any kinda of 'backup' as far as compatibility, now with the X360 we're ranting & raving about +R. EhHh the book type gets changed anyways  happy.gif

I dont think - discs allow booktype to be set, unlike + discs...and update from the OP would be welcome!

It won't work. Only +R allows bitsetting

Is this normal for all dvds drive? mine wont allow -r DL dvdrom bitsetting
Think of it this way, DVD * - * Rom...Only +R's need bitsetting/bootype changed for certain compatibility.

That's not true. DVD-R and DVD-ROM are different. only pressed DVD's report a DVD-ROM booktype and that's why DVD+R will work but not DVD-R because it allows bitsetting to DVD-ROM and fool the dirve into thinking it's a pressed DVD. If DVD-R and DVD-ROM were the same then DVD-R disc would work without having to change anything on them and that's simply not the case.

To answer the other question, Yes, this is the same for all burners because the issue is not burner related. It's a matter of the difference in the - and + standard.

Sorry for not posting sooner had to wait to get the disk from Newegg.  They did not work.  Put them in disc spun for a few seconds gave me the unrecognized disk error.  I really hate the Hitachi.
