DONT POST VERBATIMS, EVEN MY MOM KNOW THAT VERBATIMS WORK!

Wow!

Does your mom know why I'm having problems with my GameCube reading my backups. I've tried pot tweaking to many setting but they are still having issues. Ask her for me please.

LOL. I love how this turned into a Gamecube support thread. I did not intend for it to, I was just making a joke about how his mom is so knowledgeable but thanks for the info. I will look into that. Can you answer a couple quick questions for me about that though.

What chip are you using?

Can you please throw one of those discs in in dvdinfopro and get the media code for me. That would be great help. I have been using Riteks and I know Traxdata sometimes use Ritek dye. I would really appreciate it if you can get me the media code.

Thanks

It's hit and miss as the -R D/L format isn't nearly as compatible.  That and they tend to be more expensive.  Anyways Memorex and Fujifilm are all Ritek D01, so keep that in mind.

I have just tested a "Datasafe" DVD+R DL to backup a copy of elder scrolls of oblivion with my pioneer 111d and the backup works great

available on ebay pretty good prices

Which is nothing more than a lower grade Ritek D01.   dry.gif   Seriously folks we do a real disservice to others by simply posting media brands without taking the extra minute to have a look at the manufacturer ID.  In DVD Decrypter or Image Burn you can pop a blank in your burner and select ISO--->Write and then have a look in the upper right hand box at the manufacturer ID info or you can use a burned or unburned disc with http://www.dvdinfopro.com.  Then open up the program and select the media ID icon.  Post the info back here.  Otherwise we are going to end up with people saying that they have tried Memorex, Fujifilm, Datasafe, Tuffdisc and Traxdata D/L DVD+R and can't get anyone of them to work, not realizing that every single one of these brands are using various grades of the Ritek D01 media ID code.  @ the original post the reason why everyone posts Verbatims is because they have been proven to be far and above the most compatible, flexible and durable of the D/L media.  This is backed up by error rate/longevity studies, testing out compatibility on various machines and applications, ect.  Not to mention they have by far the best burner/firmware support of ANY D/L media out there.  So that is why you are constantly seeing them recommended as they are really the best option for D/L media, ESPECIALLY with the fussy Hitachi drive.  Some people have got other media to work but like any other inferrior quality media, don't expect it to work for you as well as those who claim that it works so well for them.

No and that is the frustration of the E-net budget crap that is being flooded into Europe.  The deal is that you never know what to expect since they tend to grab whatever is available from the manufacturers.  Do you happen to have a Lite-On (best option IMHO), Plextor or Benq burner that you could use to do some scans?

most of the media sold in the us, dvd+r DL is either mkm or ritek ,

mkm 001 and ritek d01 001 work well with poineer 111d and my hitachi drive,

if anyone know of any other dye available in us , let me know, id like to try em out

I can also confirm that both these two medias work well with Pioneer 111D , with either the Hitachi or Samsung X360 Dvdroms.

I have burned about 15 backups using Bulkpaq DVD+R DL (type: CMC D01). Cheap as chips but excellent quality, I have never had any coasters and no problems at all in getting them to run.
I have heard bad things abut Bulkpaq in the past but I have been using single layer Bulkpaq DVDs for years in the original xbox and they all still work perfectly.

My 360 drive is Samsung m25 ( using Xtreme 3.2 firmware)
My burner is Pioneer 111D using firmware 1.23.

One other point. I couldn’t get my 111D to even recognise Traxdata discs at all, so I’ll stay away from them in the future. I ended up selling them on ebay and got most of my money back.
