I have just tested a "Datasafe" DVD+R DL to backup a copy of elder scrolls of oblivion with my pioneer 111d and the backup works great
available on ebay pretty good prices
Which is nothing more than a lower grade Ritek D01.

Seriously folks we do a real disservice to others by simply posting media brands without taking the extra minute to have a look at the manufacturer ID. In DVD Decrypter or Image Burn you can pop a blank in your burner and select ISO--->Write and then have a look in the upper right hand box at the manufacturer ID info or you can use a burned or unburned disc with
http://www.dvdinfopro.com. Then open up the program and select the media ID icon. Post the info back here. Otherwise we are going to end up with people saying that they have tried Memorex, Fujifilm, Datasafe, Tuffdisc and Traxdata D/L DVD+R and can't get anyone of them to work, not realizing that every single one of these brands are using various grades of the Ritek D01 media ID code. @ the original post the reason why everyone posts Verbatims is because they have been proven to be far and above the most compatible, flexible and durable of the D/L media. This is backed up by error rate/longevity studies, testing out compatibility on various machines and applications, ect. Not to mention they have by far the best burner/firmware support of ANY D/L media out there. So that is why you are constantly seeing them recommended as they are really the best option for D/L media, ESPECIALLY with the fussy Hitachi drive. Some people have got other media to work but like any other inferrior quality media, don't expect it to work for you as well as those who claim that it works so well for them.
