Xbmc Xbox Media Center 2004-04-09

I got my hands on this: XBMC Xbox Media Center 2004-04-09

As usual i'm not to keen on using it as primary media player.
In my mind xbmp is far superior.

anyways im always willing to give new software a try but im having a hard getting this latest one to work, where is the readme? not included thats for sure.

Where do i put the .xml file for myweather? there's none included that i can see.
Why wont relax work? i use the same settings as in xbmp and the xbmc-2004-02-12 release, but it wont work in the latest build.

other than that xbmc finaly seems worth while!

No readme as this is an unofficial build. You can open bugs.txt and scroll down to see the issues that have been fixed - this helps if you are already familiar with XBMC.

For me, XBMC has been far and away better than XBMP since about November 2003, but it's all about personal choice I guess.

Settings for MyWeather are at the bottom of Xboxmediacenter.xml in the build folder.

xbmp is best for running from dvd cz it loads more faster but for media player from Hd xbmc is better cz it supports more file types than xbmp like you can play .bin, .iso vcd/svcd images directly.

yeah maybe so, but im saying there's no .nfo file with the build i got, further more, things that where in the previous builds of xbmc are no longer those being the ones i described earlier.

whats up with the weather .xml file? where are the regional settings now? and my other question...

Weather is not in XML..  It is in Settings->Weather within XBMC GUI.

Relax is an old streaming protocol.  Not recommended with XBMC.  Get with the times and just share your folder in windows (windows file sharing) and set up the smb:// line in the XML.

For the weather just go to "settings", "weather" and enter the desired location. You no longer need to enter the weather.com code i.e. MYXX0008, just type in the city, press search, select, and voila! A great improvement IMHO.
