if the office depot brand dl media is a generic ritek disk, then i am curious to see what type the Playo discs are....can anyone run dvdinfopro on one of these and see never know they could be the same type as verbatim i doubt it but hey for a buck per its worth lookin at....i would do this myself if i had one on hand but all i got is office depot which do not work with hitachi, looks like im giving them to my buddy with the samsung drive, oh well its worth it cause i do have to use his drive to get my ss.bin anyway...this way he wont complain as much  tongue.gif

I have playo discs.. they scan as RICOHJPN D00

tried burning using my dell notebooks nec 6650a, no go... but ill c how it goes when i get my pioneer 111d in on monday

I bought the Office Depot 25 pack DVD+R DL today for $24.99.  Got the last two the store had.  It is RITEK D01.  I'll test it out tomorrow when my Pioneer 111D comes in.

I have the Hitachi 47D.

Could you and everyone else from now that has successfully burned a working copy state in your post the results like TIME2PLAYDAGAME did meaning say which XB 360 drive you successfully used, what DVD Burner you used, what firmware you used with the burner, what speed you burned at and finally what program you used to burn the DVD.

This would make it more clear for everyone. Also state any issues you may have had with this media.

I just order a 20 pack of these DVDs and will post my results also.

Also since we are talking about different media not just PlayO media state what media your using.

Just a follow up on those Office Depot(ritek) discs. There were certain points where the voice would skip while the tutorial of Hitman was playing. I reburned the disc @ 1x and its fine. Im not certain if it was the speed or possibly a bad disc in the batch? A friend of mine burned it fine @ 2.4x on memorex though. I heard that even the retail disc is strenuous on the laser, so just a heads ^

http://forums.slickd...ht=Office Depot

I got them, and tried JAde Emprie and The Guy Game on XBOX1, was very choppy and froze in places on both. Jade disk even had erros on PC when rechecking the burn.

Not tried the 360 yet as I still have not been able to read the right info for hacking it yet.

Just thought I should add, that there is a detailed discussion in a couple of different threads about the Playo discs over at CDFreaks.  Most seem to agree so far that the discs are fake media with the Ricoh stamper being used.  These reasons were deducted from the following:  1.  The Ricoh D/L media ID has already been known to be faked under other no-name labels.  2.  The discs say MADE IN CHINA on the side.  Traditionally all Ricoh media has been produced under strict contract with Ritek using Ricoh's quality standards.  All of Riteks DVDs (both their own and under the Ricoh media ID) are ALL MADE IN TAIWAN.  The debate still isn't quite finished yet, but this seems to be the general consensus thus far.  As for the Office Depot (Ritek) media I wouldn't touch that shite with a 10 foot pole.  Horrible error rate scans, compatibility issues with a number of drives and burners and the biggest problem of course is the fact that Ritek's media over the last couple of years has had real issues with rapid deterioration.  This means that there are a number of reports of Ritek discs that have become unreadable after less than a year.  Now this doesn't mean that this will happen with all of the Ritek discs but it is something that people should be aware of as a real possibility before they buy them.  At this point only the Verbatim have proven themselves in the D/L media world.  Keep an eye out at your local stores and at newegg as they can have sales which will put you into Verbatims for well under $2 a disc.  I landed a deal with a 10 pack of the D/L Verbatims which were $17 ($1.70 a disc) up front with free shipping and then got an $8 MIR on top of that, so about $9 for the 10 pack or 90 cents a disc shipped when all is said and done.  My advice is to hold out for such sales and stock up as it will save you alot of hassle in the long run.  Not to mention they will be great for any other application that you decided to use them for.

geez.. do all of you hitachi owners ONLY use the 111D?

I have a Sony drive.. looked at the compatibility list from eftnet and my model was confirmed working with verbatims...  im guessing these office depot brand could work too??

You must've missed my lengthy post on Ritek D/L media.  The reason why so many use the Pioneer 111D is that it is probably the best burner for the money that is currently on the market.
