Ok I have tried to ripped Call of Duty 2 NTSC using the wxripper hotswap method. I had to save the layout file and change the first 3 lines starting from C to D for it to dump. Once I dumped it, I used SS Merger 1.6 and loaded the iso and it found 1 iso setting from the online database. I loaded my ss.bin file and it matched up green with the iso so i patched it. I burned it using verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL discs using my LG burner (which I think was my problem) using the newest version of clonecd. I also made sure i changed the booktype to DVD-ROM. Once the burn was done, I popped it in my xbox with the modified firmware v1.1 for the hiatchi and when I tried to boot it, i get "unrecognized disc". I have read the Hiatchi has problems reading a lot of backups, so I tried the softboot tricks and get same result. However, if I let the dashboard load first and then put it in game, it says PLAY GAME at the bottom and is recoginized as a game. When I click PLAY GAME, i get a black screen for around 20 secs and then a "unable to read disc error".

To test my .iso file, I used wx360 to load the iso and look at the contents. all the files and folders were there for call of duty 2 and no errors. So what do you guys think? was it my burner? I had to crossflash my burner to a GSA-4166B firmware to enable bitsetting. I have another burner I havn't tried, it's a NEC 3520A, should I even try it? I have heard that NEC drives don't make working backups for the hiatchi.

I already ordered a Pioneer 111D drive and plan on flashing it with the 1.23 from dangerous bros when i get it. Was this a wise decision to fix my problem?

Hi, the problem is in the burner! NEC not work PIONEER is good for you.

The Pioneer is supposed to a very good drive for backups. I have a samsung in my console but have heard from a few different people that have said it worked to make backups that played on their Hitachi's. With that said I don't think any drive can be guaranteed with backups for the Hitachi because there are so many people that are having trouble with getting backups to play on those drives. I've had that drive recommended to me by a few different people though and I've ordered it myself. From what I'm told the firmware that ships with it sets the booktype automatically, so this shouldn't be a problem but there are newer firmwares for that drive around. Hope this helps
