Pioneer DVR-710 is actually the same core as the DVR-111D. Flashed with most recent firmware, i was able to backup and burn Far Cry Instincts NTSC successfully. I didn't have time to try others but i'm pretty sure they will all work well.

DVD Burner: Pioneer DVR-111D
DVD Media: Memorex 2.4x DL
Outcome: Works!

Thanks Janvitas! That's good news. But does the Pioneer set booktype to DVD-ROM automatically or do I have to do it manually like in the BEE-GEE guides? Thank again

Most people recommend the Verbatim media for the hitachi drive, but the drive (111d) worked for me.

Here's another confirmation that it will work fine. And another confirmation that the 710 is a Pioneer DVR-111D.

no stock firmware is fine (if 1.23+)

Putting aside the fact that bigchuck bumped a post that was almost a year old, we keep having people post name brands on media rather than manufacturers. Please get out of that bad habbit.

The point of jesterrace is that the brand name is a poor representation of the what the dvd really is.
He is doing it in a very acceptable way, and to be honest it is totally true. When you do not even know if your brand X is this week ricoh, ritek or cmc, how can you say that this brand is good.
Unless you say the fuji made by ritek are good!!

We see everyday here and at cdfreaks the results of the difference in quality between the Verbatim (always MKM) and other dual layer media.

No one ever said that other media do not work, only that the risk of problems (coaster, degradation...) is much higher with other DL media than MKM (the difference is certainly much greater than it is in SL).

I do not see anyone making inappropriate comment except you.

I would certainly appreciate it is the last time.
