Xbox 360 DVD Drive: Hitachi 46DH
Xbox 360 DVD Firmware: GaryOPA Xtreme v1.3
DVD Burner: Sony DRU-700A
DVD Burner Firmware: VY05 patched from www.codeguys.rpc1.org
Game: Multiple
Media: Verbatim

All backups work perfectly.

The Sony burner is actually a rebadged LiteOn SOHW-832S. So there's a good chance that model LiteOn will work as well.

Just picked up a new burner to try besides my Pioneer DVR-111d decided to try Liteon as I heard others say it was better than the pioneer and Newegg is having a killer sale on them.

Xbox 360 DVD Drive: Hitachi 47D
Xbox 360 DVD Firmware: Xtreme v1.1
DVD Burner: LiteOn SHM-165H6S
DVD Burner Firmware: Factory - Patched bitsetting to dvd-rom with liteon utility
Game: Multiple
Media: Verbatim & Ridata
Boots: yes , did not require tricks
Burned @ speed: 4x (media was 2.4x speed that my pioneer DVR-111D would only burn @ 2.4x)

For those interested, this drive comes with a free 512mb memory stick, has free shipping and this drive does DVD-ram and lightscribe Also this burner burns my Ridata 2.4x speed media @ 4x & it still loads fine!

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827106019

If your in the market give it a shot, also newegg is having a sale on printable ridata media 25 pack for $33.99

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817132395

P.S. if you do buy this go to http://us.liteonit.com and under downloads the top DL is the bitsetting utility under Utility section, a must have.

29 pages and we are still dealing with the same BS as we dealt with on the XBOX 1.   People keep listing MEDIA BRANDS and not MEDIA MANUFACTURERS!!!!!!!!!!!  A little history on some of the media brands that have been listed here:

Tuffdisc/Bulkpaq/Ridisc/Rivision/Datawrite/Datasafe/White Label are all budget media distributed by E-net.  Well known for using factory seconds, overprints and switching out media manufacturers and quality standards at the drop of a hat.  So it doesn't do any good to list these "brands" as media that work for you since the next time around you could end up with something totally different under the same label.

Matrix-Long known for using faked media ID codes, it has recently been confirmed that they are faking the Ricoh (not to be confused with Ritek/Ridata) D/L media ID code under their label.  The dead giveaway is that the discs are made in China when it has long been known that Ricoh media IDs come from Taiwan.

Memorex/Fujifilm/Ritek/Ridata D/L DVD+R-All of these use the Ritek D01 or Ricoh media ID codes but there is no way of telling until you open them up.  Ritek are about 50/50 for compatibility for ANY application and Ritek are also known for their early deterioration rates.  The Ricoh discs are better but still fall short of being the best discs for the money.

Verbatim D/L DVD+R (MKM001 or MKM003 depending on which speed you get).  By far the best D/L media on the market.  No other media will give you higher compatibility, durability, ect. for D/L media.  There are also a number of good sales on these as of late which put them into the price range of even the cheapest quality D/L discs so why bother with any of the above (at least if you live in the US).

Bottom line:  The Hitachi drive modding is still in it's infancy and the drive so far has proven to be the most finicky and inconsistant one of the bunch.  Even the best quality discs won't work on some of them.  That being said, you owe it to yourselves to give yourselves the best possible chance for success.  So go with nothing but the best.  I can't believe that after all people have learned about the XBOX 1 that they so easily forget the lessons they have learned.  Stick with the best quality media and you will enjoy the highest possible success FOR ANY APPLICATION.  Rather than going around looking through 29 pages of posts that say "Brand X worked for me."  Verbatim D/L DVD+R (MKM001 or MKM003) is still your best bet and don't be fooled by off the wall brands that claim the same media ID code as they are often faked.

END OF RANT.  wink.gif

Does anybody else get this message?

"to play this disc put it in an xbox 360 console"

I burn the game using clonecd and SS merger 1.6 for proper SS file. When I insert in the console I get the above message.

BENQ DW1640 RPC1 patched BSQB firmware. Bit set to DVD-ROM, using latest CloneCD.

I experienced exactly the same problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Have you found the solution yet?

I made my first xbox 360 game backup for Oblivion with Benq DW1640 burner and RiData disc. But when i put the backup disc into the XBox 360 console, it shows 'To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console'. What did i do wrong? Any idea?

I used Kreon v0.8 firmware + Schtrom360XtractV2.1 + ImgBurn v2.1 to make the backup.

Specs of modding PC:
Motherboard: Intel 82801 ICH6 chipset
Xbox drive : Hitachi 47D

Specs Of burning PC:
motherboard : Nvidia 410 chipset
DVD writer : pioneer 111D Firmware 1.23
Media used : Datawrite titanium 2.4x 8.4GB DL RW

Had good experience, being first drive modded for me.  My PC tat I used to mod the drive was having a lot of trouble putting the drive into modeB, but once I decided to give up on that and use the 2 wire trick (using the two pins + wire tip previously), it appeared as a drive letter instantly on bootup, upon which I used garyopa 2.1 to flash.

Flashing took a couple of minutes, all successful, I then powered down box and put it back together, and checked it still booted...

When I got round to burning a disc, just burnt using clonecd, and these datawrite dvds - all 5 I have burnt have worked first time, from cold boot without an issue, was playing for 8 hours last night.

what can I say? Doesn't get much easier than that - great job everyone who was involved in this, I was expecting far more problems than that!!

Is it okay to ask questions in this thread?

I've got a NEC DVD-RW ND 3530A Burner. I will use Verbatim DL since i've heard it's the best.

So. Will it work with either a samsung or Hitachidrive? Firmware-hacked ofc. I haven't bought a 360 so i need to know if i should look for a samsung or hitachi-drive!

i have an nec 3250a and it burns verbatim and memorex dvd+r dl discs just fine for my hitachi drive.  i backup games using the samsung/kreon drive.  also, have a samsung 360 drive on the way back to try on my other 360, it should run those discs no problem.

Hey Guys,
I just sold my NTSC-J box with a Hitachi v47
I got myself a PAL box with a Samsung ms25

I have been using a pioneer 111d and Verbatim disc's

Now that i have the Samsung drive will it be less fussy with what media i use?
Or do i still have to use the Verbatim disc's.
Btw i live in cairns in Australia and it is a pain in the ..... To find Verbatim disc's. But there are a few shops that have other DVD DL disc's like TDK and whatnot

Thanks in advance guy

I think they only will work, when you patch your dvd-firmware with birdyflasher(with mediacheckv2). With garyopa it should not work I think.
