someone posted here earlier with pretty much the same specs cept i have the 8x verbatims... (thx to that person! I didnt run out and buy a pioneer because of you... woulda never tried updating the f/w on the sony.)

had the "unrecognized disc error" before flashing with the lite-on f/w. Bitsetting didnt seem to work with any of the programs to set that... I think it might just do auto-bitsetting like the 111D.

Boots with no tricks but seems a lil slow. Fist time I've ever played the thing tho so maybe that's how it always is.

I tried burning a game on Fuji media with the pioneer 111D (TDB 1.23 firmware) at max speed....

Works like a charm. Game boots up w/o any tricks and plays great. I don't know what it is about the Pioneer, but it's doing something write (no pun intended).

I have flashed over 10 hitachis so far. And i have came to the conclusion that the 47DH boots most discs right off the bat. The 47DJ is a pos. Im going to pot tweak my 47DJ soon to try to get the verbatims to autoboot. Im still using the HP discs with no problems whatsoever on my 47DJ.

well i didnt flash my hitachi yet because i didnt know if my burner could burn the games, so im gona ask you guys if anyone has tried to using a LG GSA-4165B, lots of ppl out there had this burner but it had a different number like GSA-4167B ect, and non of them worked so im a bit worried

Working : No, will detect the disc from a cold boot, but after going to "Play Game" and the drive obviously straining to read the disc it comes up with a DDE
Game: Chromehounds
Hitachi Firmware: flashed with 46D 1.2

I can't set the book type with my burner, what would be interesting is knowing what things cause what. For example, what does the wrong book type do, DDE or unrecognised disc? What does an invalid SS do?

Anyone got any suggestions? Bearing in mind I'm overdrawn already this month so buying another burner/media isn't an option at this time.
