t has to be the firmware problem. I using pioneer 111d with the latest firmware, verbatim for the media burnt at 2x no go it brings me to the dash with (open tray) prompt. I even try xbox1 backup it gives me error so it have to be the firmware bug
Yep same drive, same media and same problem, the harddrive trick works.   uhh.gif

I am going to play a conspiracy theorist here but I could be horribly wrong! So dont just go making XBOX360 shaped bricks. Just popped in my head when reading the original "Commodore4eva Xtreme Firmware for Hitachi-LG 47D Xbox 360 DVD Drive" News post which is still on the front page of XBOX-SCENE. At the end it says "Firmware for 46 version will be released soon but I cannot test it. Code is offset slightly throughout the firmware. Could this slight offset cause these problems? Maybe we should be patching our 46D drives not 47D. The picture in the news post even shows a 46D! Maybe a communication error? I dunno.

P.S. I am not going to try this and neither should you! It is a stupid theory. I will wait for a post from Com.

It's a bug in the firmware... don't sweat it. Just try not to waste anymore discs until commodore releases a stable firmware. Why do you think he released 1.1 of the Hitachi firmware. He knew he had made a bug and he tried to fix it. He never did this for the Samsung because that one was done a lot more easily.

Media: Verbatim 2.4
Burner: Nec 4570a
game hitman blood money from hard drive image
burned at 2.4x with the latest version of CloneCD.
Works on sammy
no go on hitachi 47dj with 1.0
no go on hitachi 47dj with 1.1

Changed burner pioneer 110d
game hitman blood money from hard drive image
same media from same tubof 10
burned at 2.4x with the latest version of CloneCD
doesnt work on sammy
doesnt work on hitachi 47dj with 1.1

Forgot to change bitsetting firmware

Burner pioneer 110d with bitseeing firmware from dangerous brothers site.
game hitman blood money from hard drive image
Same media from same tub of 10
burned at 2.4x with the latest version of CloneCD
works on sammy
works on hitachi 47dj with 1.1

So its not a media problem, all three tests used the same media, the same hard drive image for the game, only difference being the burner.

Now copied all four games I own using the pioneer and they all work, oblivion works faster than on the sammy.

Good luck guys, hang in there because this does work....

I still believe that it is a firm problem. Probably just a coincidence the pioneer drive burns and works. Otherwise, why would only 1 or 2 burners work with this?

I bought the cheapest lite-on i could find, and now everything works fine, so kinda wierd. Using same media as in my nec burner (Verbatim 2.4x) and now it boots fine every time, with the nec it didnt boot even once.

Im pretty sure the firmware can be tweaked abit more to get better compability, but for now, if you have any other than Pioneer og LiteOn burners, i wouldnt even try to burn a backup until either a fix or other burners are confirmed working. Btw, i used latest firmware for liteon and used dvdinfo pro to switch to DVD-ROM bitsetting wink.gif

I tried two burns, both successful.
My burner is a Pioneer 110D with firmware 1.22 crossflashed to automatically set booktype/bitsetting to DVDROM for DVD+DL media
Verbatim 2.4x (MFG: Mitsubishi MKM 001)
Memorex 2.4x (MFG: Ritek Co. RITEK D01)
used latest clonecd, no problems with playback.
my drive is a 47DJ
hope this helps

Deathman how did you do the pot tweak?
According to the tutorial found somewhere in the forum (with the 2 scrwes...)?
Did that work for Hitachi drives too?

burn a game image with nec 4551. traxdata media, it give me, dirty disc...

try same image with nec 3520aw, same traxdata media, it give me , dirty disc error

all the same on the 3 attempt... but this time with a pioneer 111d... it give me open tray in dash

try the hd trick with this last dvd.. it work all the time i try to boot it

hd tricks not work with the traxdata's burned with the two necs and with the discs that give me dirty disk error..but work with the same traxdata burned with pioneer and open tray error

my opinion is..... its a firmware bug...or not??? maybe.....the dvdrom need more time to recognize the disc and hd trick give it the right time...maybe we need only some pauses in the right place in the hitachi firmaware...i dunno  (maybe c4e try this with 1.1 release??.. 1.1 is a little more slow than 1.0 in boot phase)

anyways a thing is right..... hitachi dont like nec burners and sometime it is bad with media that it dont like

Please also post if your building your image with isobuilder or if you downloaded a pre patched one. I have not got 1 disk to work when made with isobuilder ( 9 different games now ) but the ones i downloaded pre patched work great with the HD and AV tricks. Unless the way to use isobuilder is different than what is said in the txt i don't think it's any good ( do you need that blank360.iso now cause i left it when making ).

Well still no luck but I was just thinking, maybe for the heck of it we should start listing which actual drive model we have... I have a 47dh.  Anyone else having issues with their 47dh?
