Guess it's time to try all the burned backups that didn't work before with the 1.1 firmware.

This is crazy! Did you guys flash with the latest 47D v1.1 & try? Im about to take my Samsung out & put my Hitachi back in, flash it & try my backups.  tongue.gif

Right now im using:
Verbatim 8x & 10x - burning @ 2-2.4x
Pioneer 110D fw 1.37
Latest version of CloneCD

Those who have Best Buys around, i bought a 20pk of 8x Verbatims last week for $40. I believe the sale goes on til Fathers day.

I officially recommend EVERY NEC USER TO NOT (!!) BURN ANY FURTHER DL DISCS ON THESES BURNERS! AS THERE IS NOT A SINGLE CASE REPORTED WITH A SUCCESSFULLY RUNNING BACKUP! YOU WILL JUST CREATE LOTS OF COASTERS! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!

not true, all of my backups work fine on my friends sammy drive so they should work ok

this is a hitatchi post...

really a shame how bad of luck people are having with this drive... its making me think i should wait for a real mod chip to invest....

new burner
new blank disks
new sata pci card

too much $$$ and trouble for such a little value... i have had no disc scratching so far, so i doubt its going to happen without user error.

unless i get bored and need a project... i think ill steer clear... or maybe if its ruled that only the pioneers for some reason are the only burners that can burn working mages.. i might get a pioneer... too early in its stage to make a good decision.

sucks.. my first xbox had a thomson.. and even though it still works, it would suck if i got the 360's version of the crappy dvd drive.

Got the same drive.  Backed up on the PC fine, but I haven't been able to successfully flash my firmware to test.

Also posted in the 1.1 news thread by me:
Still a no-go for me. sad.gif The two backups I made work on my friends Samsung. Lucky him. I guess that's what I get for buying on launch day, lol. tongue.gif

Here's my specs for anyone that cares.
Drive: Hitachi 47DJ
Firmware: 1.1, Didn't work with 1.0 either
Burner: LG GSA-4167B
Media: Verbatim DVD+R DL Item #95014(easily searched in Google)
Speed: 2.4x on the first burn, 1x on the second(both worked in friend's Samsung, not in my Hitachi)

Gonna go buy a pack of Memorex and a pack of TDK media tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. Anyone tried with DVD+RW DL or DVD-R DL?

Edit: One thing I did notice is that it tries for about 7 seconds longer before it gives up and gives me the DDE.

Ok easy test for some that has a spare dvd+r dl and does not... repeat does not have a pioneer drive. Burn a movie onto it use bit setting. If the bastard boots then its the firmware. I have a feeling com was rushed to get this out. He also stated he couldn't test it himself... other people may have. So find a dvd9 movie do an exact copy and give it a shot. Process of elimination.

I was also wondering about this and decided to try it.  I burned a copy of Lord of the Rings:  The Return of the King on the same kind of discs that I used to burn the game with.  The drive made some noise for a few seconds, then booted the movie right up.

The drive appeared to have trouble with the disc at first, then it read fine.  I hope Commodore can fix this, but I'm not complaining because he has done so much already. smile.gif

Edit:  It looks Ronike did the same thing as me.  His movie worked and his game didnt.  Strange
