Just a note for you guys, this business of comparing brand names is stupid. You need to be reporting MEDIA CODES.

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

I've tested about 6 brands of DVD +R DL's now, and they basically stem from two camps.
Either:

1) RITEK...D01 (Memorex, Fujifilm, Ridata)

2) MKM.....001  (Verbatim, Sony, Dynex) [MKM = Mitsubishi Kameda Media]

While the Ritek discs do load, they load slowly and painfully. There's ample reviews on optical drive forums (Such as the CDFreaks.com above) that state the discs suck badly no matter what the usage.

So yeah...MKM is the winner here folks. If you can shell for them, buy some 10 packs of Verbatim.
http://www.blankmedi...ail3.asp?id=818 is a good source.

I think so the same...since we have seen people with Verbatim working and others not and people with Ridisk working and others not and same issue with pioneer where with some it worked with others not.,...seems its not stable at all or maybe different hardware ?

Burnt on a Pioneer 109 at 2.4x in CloneCD. Tested on a PAL 360 Hitachi 47DJ with the v1.1 firmware. Tested both backups multiple times, from dash and cold start, with no success. On each attempt, drive would try to access the disc for a minute or so and then would simply revert to "open tray".

Going to get a Pioneer 111 and try some Verbatim discs tomorrow.

Heres what i stumbled on to get troublesome games to load

1. With 360 off pop the HDD out so it just rests on top
2. Power up 360 and insert troublesome game disc that you know work once before
3. Leave game to spin up a few seconds then pop back in HDD this will make 360 do a soft reset and game loads

This worked for me tried on 2 different media Datawrite Titanium and Traxdata DVD+R DL

Can someone else try it and post results please
