Tommarrow Garyopa's v2.0 will be released. Im confident that this will solve most all hitachi drives problems. With the built in media patch and the glitch free ripping firmware specifically tested for each version (unlike birdy which seems to be faulty for some drives including 46). I even went out on Amazon and bought a 25 pack of Memorex dvd+r dl for 39.95! Good deal. Free shipping too.

DVD Burner Firmware: 1.02
Game: Amped 3
Media: Verbatim +DL at 4x
The 360 gives dirty disc error, makes alot of noise trying to read DVD. With the same media and burner, backup movies work though.

I would try burning that again with a Pioneer 111D or Lite-On with Verbatim disks. Also, make sure to check the disc you burnt with DVDInfoPro to see if the bookset is DVD-ROM. The first disk I burnt with my Lite-On I forgot to set DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM and it gave me that dirty disk error.

Maybe it is just your NEC burner, Try get Poineer burner with lastest firmware and verbatim media. Close all programs when you are burning DVD-DL and leave computer untouch till it is finished. Make sure you have enough RAM and a fast CPU. Windows XP is recommended and burn those media at 2-2.4X is better. The higher the burning speed the higher the failure rate.

Windows XP Media Edition SP2, Windows XP Pro 64 Bit (Both Work)

Fluffhead, what is the media code of the Verbatiums you using, where did you buy them ?

Make sure you using the latest CloneCD, 5.2.91 works fine. The pioneer with fw 123, works like a bomb.

I am even using Fujifilm, every game boots without any tricks 100%.

Hedgebelt, buy the pioneer 111d, it is the best money I spent when you see your games boot flawlessly, you can pick up the drives for about $50 if you look around. Both my Sony and Benq refused to boot any disks, all dirty, blew about 15 expensive verbatiums.

I've tried two different types of verbatims; media code MKM 001 bought at newegg and  MKM 003 bought at Bestbuy, Ive also tried Fujifilm and memorex. My drive refuses to play anything even dvd movies off these disks

I was using clonecd 5291, but downgraded in desparation.

I am now convinced that there is something about my Hitachi that is different than others. It simply wont read burned media. In another act of desparation I Trimmed my pot all the way from 2.4 to 4.5 in small increments. still no go. Maybe the 46DH designation has something to do with it, or maybe I inadvertantly screwed up my firmware along the way. Although I did backup my firmware initially, restoring it doesnt help.

Of Interest, when I first tried making backups with a samsung burner I would get a dirty disc error. And now I cannot get that error screen, only open tray error. even if I use those old discs that caused the dirty disc error before.

Hmm.. I have the same setup, but with other media and it doesnt work for me.. Have you tried any other media, like verbatims? How about DVD movies?

Working: No - sounds like drive is struggling to read disc and then it gives up.

Can any confirm they have used the NEC 4550a successfully?

nothing boots,gives dirty disk and

Although I have to use the 20sec waiting method, but it works.
Shutdown the console with the backup in the drive, wait for 20 sec and reboot and it works cool.gif .
