I am totally new and know nothing much BUT I tried initially to back up my game with the hard method (opening the Pioneer DVD to change disks manually) and used Wxripper latest version. Had CRC errors but the disk is quite scratched. Then finally I obtained the image and made sure I har .NET in the WIN XP SP2 machine.
Merger WILL NOT work at all. Got the SS.bin for PAL but no way I could make anything work.
Then someone suggested the Samsung drive BUT is no longer in production or available.

So I got the image another way and used Clone CD to burn it. Disc unreadable said the XBOX. This was the latest version of Clone CD November 2007.
Then somewhere that I cannot find in this forum found the tutorial of ImageBurn. Using THE SAME ISO I had and following the WRITE amendments from default burnt the image. IT BLOODY WORKS !

What is wrong with CLONE CD or me ?

Where there is a CLEAR explanation of how things DO WORK ?

Thanks

i have a very odd burner and i use very odd media.

I use Dynex media (with RICOHJPN die) for 18 dollars for 15 of them and they all burn flawlessly. THis was not alway so until i started using dvd decrypter.

I could never get a good burn with imgburn, but when i use dvddecrypter it works all the time ( this was before for some odd reason i found out that i must always select verify after write to get a perfect brun all the time). It was quite weird. But my experience with dvd decrypter is a positive one and i followed the tutorial here. THis is coming from a NME 2.0 user though.

that's my 2 cents.

P.S. Dynex (a bestbuy brand) can be found at bestbuy and DO NOT LISTEN TO THE SALES PEOPLE, ITS PERFECTLY FINE FOR BURNING BACKUPS. For 15 dollars i could care less if 5 fails, its still cheaper than other brands.

Hey guys, im using this method to burn a devil may cry 4 backup. the first time i burned this to disk, i get a disk read error on the load screen after selecting new game. so i burned a second disk, which gets further than the first, but then the next load screen after pressing new game, it dies. so i then did a third copy, which gets further than the other 2 but crashes on a video. its weird though because even when the slide comes up saying disk read error, the video still plays normal without crashing or anything :S
anyone know whats going on here? im using aone 8x disks if theyre the problem?

This thread should be dumped by now.

IMGBurn is completely free and is based on DVD Decrypter. Not only that, but it's kept up to date.

www.imgburn.com

1. Load IMGBurn
2. Select 'Write image file to disc'.
3. Browse for the .dvd file of you game rip.
4. Select your DVD Writer.
5. Tick the 'Verify' box underneath the DVD Writer.
6. Click on the Burn icon at the bottom of the program.

That's all there is to it. If your disc fails on the verify, then your media is bad. From experience, this usually happens on the layerbreak of bad media!
