I just want to add here that it appears that Toshiba/Samsung DL burners TSST Corp H552 A/B have bitsetting enabled in the latest official firmwares.  SO anyone with one of those drives, such as myself should be able to burn the images correctly.

Not to sound rude, but can you tell me where you got your info? I have the B version of this drive and would like to be sure on the bitsetting, As I have been searching for 2 days on this topic and EVERYTHING, I have found suggests otherwise.  I hope you have found something I was unable too. Thanks In advance.

I'm sorry to ask noobish questions but. Is this solution applicable if I have a Hitachi-LG X360 DVD drive? B/c i thought its only possible to flash the firmware if you have a Toshiba-Samsung.

I'm so pissed, my last x360 had a TS drive, but it started overheating and I returned, got a new one this friday but its a hitachi model. sad.gif

Great..!!  I'm a huge fan of nero too, so it will be nice if i can use that to burn my backups.

Sorry for all the questions but I assume I still point nero to the Image.dvd file and not the Image.000 file, then just ensure that the booktype is DVD-Rom..?  No other settings need to be adjusted..?

You guys rock..!  I can't wait till home brew is possible...

please tell me , how do you burn *.dvd files with nero ? got 7xxx and it doesn't work ..can't open them

I got a Pioneer 108 drive. How do i set my drive so that will support bitsettings ?

I know Pioneer doesn't support that, but there are hacked firmwares for this. I flashed mine with Piodatas 1.14 firmware. But how do i know what bitsettings are used atm?

The firmware thread says this:

QUOTE
11) I want BitSetting on +R media! & +R DL media too!
1. As for +R media, use -R. There is no official support and all the patchers will tell you to use -R media.
2. The x08 sets +R DL media on DVD-ROM booktype anyways!
3.Bitsetting DVD+R media to DVD-ROM by default: (Thanks to rugger)

Do i really need to change the firmware or am I way off ?

I just wanted to add that my TSST Corp. TS-H552B with Gateway firmware rev. GA05 supports DVD-ROM BookType by default, no setting required, and I use ImgBurn to burn.   smile.gif

I have a Samsung S-SH162L burner.  As far as I can tell, I can't change the bittype settings.  Well, I CAN, but I don't have any option to change the +R DL setting as is mentioned in the tutorials and the forums.  I don't know if my version of DVDInfoPro is to blame but it's the newest one listed on the official webpage.  The window that pops up when clicking the "+RW" icon says "DVD+R/RW BookType/Bitsetting (Benq Drives Only)" in the titelbar.

I have three options going across the top:
oDVD+R............ oDVD+RW...............o .......... o............oDVD-ROM

Below that is the following:

Current Settings
MEDIA TYPE ............BOOK TYPE............[Set Current Media (DVD+RW only) ]
CURRENT.................DVD+R DL.............[Set Drive Default (DVD+RW Media)]
DVD+RW.................DVD-ROM...............[Set Drive Default (DVD+R Media)   ]
DVD+R...................  .  ----- .    ..................[     Help     ]    [      Close        ]

I'm ASSUMING I need the box that I highlighted in RED to change from DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM.  Is this correct, and if so, I'm at a loss.  Any hints on how I can modify my Samsung burner or do I HAVE to go buy a new one?

Please post anything that might help, and thanks to everyone.
