How do you work that one out??? my backups are running fine.. and i HAVE NOT set or changed any booktype!!!

Either its set to dvd-rom by default, or maybe the original readme which said that it must be set to dvd-rom was mistaken.
And the question i had answered was is changing the booktype all you have to do? no firmware?
I was simply clarifying that it was in addition to the hacked firmware, not instead of

Has anyone used Memorex DVD+R DL Disc for the 360 games?  If so do they play fine?

Quick question:

do we need to change the booktype everytime we burn an image?

The tool I found to change my types on a Lite-On gives me the option to set to DVDRom, I click change, close the app,  eject the disc, put it back open the app and Current Booktype still shows DVD+R.

Do I need to restart the system maybe for the changes to take effect?? (ahh im running deep freeze too)

ok the problem must be in my compile. i burned the .000 file couse the .dvd file opening gave me an error.

i used the build360.bat file
and i get the files .000 and .dvd
every where is said that i should load the *.dvd file to clone cd and burn
but the clone cd ( 5.2.6.1 )  error opening.....LayerBreak=1913760 the system cannot find the file specifed
what could couse this ?

Had that problem, you have an old version of CloneCd the LayerBreak was introduced after v5.2.6.1.
I burned it but I get unrecognized disk anyway, using platinum DVD+R DL

I downloaded the latest clonecd and i have a sony DRX820U.

I was able to backup my original and I ran the batch file for x360
successfully produced image.dvd and image.000

I went ahead and burned the image onto a verbatim DVD+R DL after choosing "overburn" through clonecd because it told me the the cd was not large enough.  (even tho it showed me i had 7+gigs available on the disk and the data was only 4 or so gigs)

So needless to say I ended up creating a coaster...

My question is how do i set the booktype to DVD-Rom on my sony DRX820U.  I think my dell laptop has a NEC drive too tho, maybe i will need to use that.

What is the best way to set the booktype/bitsetting and burn this image.

I have a Lite-ON SOHW 1693S and DVDInfo does not let me change the booktype.
I also have Nero (the express, the bundle version with DVDs) and Nero CD Speed does not give me an option for changing booktype either.

I looked at the manufacters website for either an updated firmwar for your drive that may enable booktype changing or like in my case I found a tool made by Lite-ON that lets you change the book type. (See my other post above)

Go  to sonys site and look trhough...

Ahhh, I did read the post but I obviously didn’t understand it the first time...  I thought settings that only worked for each app you set it for, my bad...

On a side note, will nero burn these images created by ISOBuster..?  If so, how do i change the "Xbox 360 Original Number of LBA to read 3567872 decimal"..?

Thanks for all of your time and efforts with this.  I was extremely upset when my first 360 game got all scratched up and toasted cuz my console got moved while it was running.  Hell if I'm going to pay over $50 for a game it better last (or be able to get backed up).

Good work on the tutorial btw, it does make more sense at 9 in the morning compared to 3 in the morning w/ little to no sleep the previous day...next time i'll re-read before i post...

nero should burn them directly. Just make sure the booktype is set correctly in Nero too.

If you set it in DVDInfoPro then open Nero, it will default to neros settings

Great..!!  I'm a huge fan of nero too, so it will be nice if i can use that to burn my backups.

Sorry for all the questions but I assume I still point nero to the Image.dvd file and not the Image.000 file, then just ensure that the booktype is DVD-Rom..?  No other settings need to be adjusted..?

You guys rock..!  I can't wait till home brew is possible...
