Great..!!  I'm a huge fan of nero too, so it will be nice if i can use that to burn my backups.

Sorry for all the questions but I assume I still point nero to the Image.dvd file and not the Image.000 file, then just ensure that the booktype is DVD-Rom..?  No other settings need to be adjusted..?

You guys rock..!  I can't wait till home brew is possible...

correct to all 3 questions

The info here has been a big help, Thanks a lot! =)
I used isobuster 1.9
I used clonecd 5.2.8.1. ( 5.2.6.1. would not work )
I burned the image.dvd file. ( not the image.000 file )
I used Memorex +R DL media
I burned it with a Memorex MRX-500N internal DVD DL burner.

Burned off a working back-up today! Appreciate the tips.

note to people with Pioneer DVR-109 dvdrw

google is ur friend biggrin.gif

Re: Pioneer DVR-109 DVD+R DL booktype setting help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You do not need Buffalo 8.40 firmware for DL bitsetting. That is default in the pioneer official firmware as its needed for the discs to play properly in most players. It is the same with the 108. The Buffalo firmware is only for SL and RW media bitsetting which the official pioneer one does not support.

The disc type will show as DVD+R DL until you burn it. After you burn it the firmware automatically changes the booktype to read DVD-ROM. I have done this last night in fact and it worked perfectly, you do not need to manually change book type

I just want to add here that it appears that Toshiba/Samsung DL burners TSST Corp H552 A/B have bitsetting enabled in the latest official firmwares.  SO anyone with one of those drives, such as myself should be able to burn the images correctly.

ok, so here's an update on my situation...sorry for my long post, but i think it may be useful to some...

I tried burning a dvd with nero using DVD-Rom in nero as the booktype.  First pointing at the image.dvd file, which burned only 1meg of information...
Then I tried burning another dl dvd with nero now pointing at the image.000 file, which seemed to burn 7+ GB of information, upon trying to load in xbox with xtreme firmware it would not load, it did NOT even detect as a game cd, i also heard the dvd drive thrashing quite a bit.

Then i tried burning the DVD after a fresh install of XP, DVDInfoPro, CloneCD; first i set the booktype to DVD-Rom with DVDInfoPro.  Then I re-comple the image i extraced with the 0800 firmware with Xtreme_Package .bat file after extracting the SS.bin file sucessfully.

This is the DL DVD Burner I am currently using:
SONY    DVD RW DRU-820A
Firmware 2.0B
Buffer Size: 2048
Connection Interface: USB
Drive Interface: Atapi-3

When I try to burn the Image.dvd with CloneCD I recieve the following error:

Image doesn't fit on destination Disc
Space available: 7222 MByte (53:42:46 Min:Sec:Fra)
Space required: 4482 MByte (254:1:29 Min:Sec:Fra)

I have tried both options

Try to Overburn
Write Until the End of the Media is reached

Both options produce the same results in the x360 w/ xtreme and original key modified firmware.
The x360 starts the dvd like it was the actual game but then gives me the following:

Unrecognized Disc
  Clean disc
  Restart the console

The xtreme firmware loaded onto the xbox 360's dvd drive successfully, after copying and replacing the security key from 4000-4200.

The sad part is both my laptops have DL dvd burners too but i'm not sure if either will work...

_NEC  DVD+- ND-6500A
firmware: 203d
Interface: Atapi / IDE
Error Recieved in DvdInfo:  It seems your drive does not support bitsetting

LiteOn SLIMTYPE DVDRW SOSW-852S
Firmware: PSU2
Interface: Atapi / IDE
Error Recieved in DvdInfo:  Newer commands are currently being implimented, check next version.

I believe i have a good image and SS.bin extraced with the x360 dvd drive and 0800 firmware loaded.

Can anyone confirm if any of the 3 dl dvd burners i have will work..?
It seems like I'm very close with the Sony DRU-820A...
Is the "Image doesn't fit" error i'm recieving with CloneCD messing up my DVD..?
I think this might be a booktype issue, hence the posting in this forum thread...

Any help would be Greatly appreciated..!!!

1st, Nero will overwrite your booktype so check your setting in nero.
Second, get the latest version of CloneCD

In nero my book type was set to DVD-Rom the first time
The second try I set the DVD-Rom w/ DvdInfoPro and use device settings with nero

neither way worked, and it did not detect as a game cd either way when burned with nero.

I am using the latest 5.2.8.1 of CloneCD

When i try burning with clone cd the xbox does think it's a game cd but still no luck with unreadable cd message.

I'm looking into finding an updated firmware for my NEC 6500A that will allow bitsetting, still have not found a download for one.

Is there any other programs that might also work with my sony..?

So i was able to find new firmwares for both the NEC and the LiteOn

Does it matter that CloneCD reports the following

Space available: 7222 MByte (53:42:46 Min:Sec:Fra)
Space required: 4482 MByte (254:1:29 Min:Sec:Fra)

Are other peoples images they create showing them such hight minutes (254 in my case)..?
It looks like it knows it will have enuf space, just not enuf time...does anyone else get this error...

I am currently copying my final image to both laptops with modded firmwares.  I wil let you know the results.

This is a drive that I used and worked great with a book type utility tool that you download from their website.

http://www.mdmm.com/...ORTripleInt.asp

It is a md-16x3dvd9-8x!

I ended up using the Liggy's and Dee's NEC ND-6500A 2.24 BT Firmware.

I was able to then go into the +RW section of DVDInfoPro without getting the error that the drive was not supported.

Now in the +RDL Default it reads DVD-ROM

And when I go to burn the image to a dvd I no longer recieve the size error..!!!

Thanks again for all of your help.  Good work geebee on the v5 tutorial, it was very understandable...

I don't know whether it has been posted already or not. I had serious problems with bitsetting in dvdinfopro and a LG GSA-4167. It just said its not capable smile.gif  So i tried Nero CD Speed 4.51.1 and it worked. Maybe this helps anyone of you.

OK I can't get this to work. Here is what I have.

OS = Windows XP 64 Bit (AMD64 CPU)
DVD Drive = Pioneer DVR-110D
DVDINFOPRO tells me "Pioneer drives do not support bit setting" so I can't do anything there.
Firmware = 8.37 - Buffalo which should auto set DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM - Also tried the modifid 1.22 as some suggest.
A known working image
Burnt using the latest CloneDVD download (they have stopped CloneCD but I have seen tuts using this so I assume it is OK)

All I get is please clean the disc......... Annoying at £5 a disc.

Any ideas peeps...

I know the feeling, smoked a good 7 DLs before I got my first one to work... I've reciently solved the mysterious Firmware puzzle with my configuration too... makes it all worth the time and efforts tho...

My DVD DL burner had some issues with not only the factory firmware, but the first two "bitsetting" firmwares also.  I ended up finding 4 different modified firmwares.  The 3rd one of which reported everything perfectly through DVDInfoPro, which the previous 2 did not.

I think the major key is to make sure the MEDIA TYPE is correct in DVDInfoPro when clicking on the +RW icon.  My working firmware shows me +RDL Default = DVD-Rom, +RDL Temp = DVD-Rom... This 3rd firmware was the only one to report this back to me, the other firmwares gave me the same error you're getting...  I noticed a lot more of my options said Yes too when burning the DVD image with CloneCD.

Finally make sure you have a copy of the latest xbox360firmwaretutorialv5.pdf, google it if you don't have it.. Crazy Props to mksoftware, geebee and everyone else involved with this, mad skillz...

OK lts go at this from another angle.

Pioneer don't support bit setting and people are hacking the firmware to try to make them, rather than mess about does anyone have a list of drives that bit set out of the box? After all DVD writers are only £30/40 now and I am wasting £5 blanks and climbing the walls here so sod it I might as well just buy one that works.

I have 2 dvd burners, both are liteon and both are defaulted to DVD ROM Booktype ( no messing around with dvdinfopro)

LITEON DVDRW SHW 16H5S
LITEON DVDRW SOHW 1673S

The bitsetting of DVD ROM is right out of the box..
