Xbox360 Component Jtag Hdtv? Help Plesae
« on: January 29, 2010, 06:27:00 PM »

Hi i just jtagged my console with no hdmi connection. only component.
i was using SD cable, now i bought a HD component cable.

there a switch in cable right? to choose HDTV or TV. i choose HDTV and i go to settings menu in xbox dashboard (xbr) and it allways says HDTV output disabled, what's happening?

i can use 480i just fine with component (hdtv) cable, i press 720p and 1080i and a warning shows asking "if that resolution is ok" and my tv detects both 720p and 1080i, but after i press yes it goes back to 480i.

help please :S am i doing something wrong?
why isn't xbox detecting that the switch is in HDTV position?

tested with other xbox, same thing.
problem is not the TV i allready had a cable like this working at 720p. :\

tested with an old cable all ***cked up and it works 1080i and 720p but..it's ruined. only green colors work.

why one works and other won't?
the other works in my friends xbox360 more recent

That's not intrinsically true. It may be true for a given TV/monitor because of the quality of the signal processing in the TV/monitor, but in general VGA is better than component, although subjectively both can produce similar image quality.

Even though I'm fully aware that what you say is true, I really think is a problem in the console itself, only tried it in a Xenon (either original M$cam cable and VGA mod), sadly for me, my tv looks better with the computer attached to the VGA than the 360, same thing 360 on my PC LCD, haven't tried a zephyr or higher with the VGA, but I'm so comfortable with HDMI and it's deeper blacks, it really gives some more life to games.
