I recently purchased my first HDTV, a 1080p Samsung LN40B500, along with a PS3 Slim and an XBox 360 Elite. I've been playing around with them for about a week and although I've enjoyed it for the most part, I have a couple problems/questions.
Being that I've never had an HDTV before it's hard to judge the picture quality, but the overall picture on video games and 1080p downloaded movies played through my XBox does not seem as good as some TVs I've seen at friends and in stores. I hooked up my PS3 Slim to the same TV with the same HDMI cable I used with the 360, in the same HDMI port, and played the same Demos I downloaded for the 360. They did in fact, look better on the PS3, despite everything being pretty much equal. It seems like on the 360 the edges of objects are rougher and seem to almost move as the image moves. The strangest thing is on a demo of a UFC video game, the rungs on the wire mesh cage are full of tiny white flickering spots that look like static as the picture moves. On the exact same demo on the PS3, everything looks fine. I've tried changing the XBox 360's own settings to 1080i and 720p but nothing fixes it.
1. What could possibly be wrong with the picture? From my description is there any term I could use for what appears to be the problem? It would make it easier to search for a solution.
2. Is it possible that it's something wrong with the 360 itself, or something that could be fixed by messing with TV settings?
