Messed Up Colors
« on: September 18, 2009, 11:50:00 PM »

Hello I'm in desperate need for a solution to my very annoying problem. About 3 days ago I came home and turned on my 360 and for some weird reason there was no audio or video even though I could eject the disc tray and turn the console on and off via my controller. I called my friend and asked him if I was on xbox live and he told me I was and after a few minutes of button counting and mashing I ended up in a party with my buddies(with no audio and video through my television). The next day my 360 would appear to be back to normal, the audio and video came back however this time 5 minutes after starting it my entire dashboard turned a cyan color with constant bright red flashing in the background. I looked this problem up and came to the conclusion that my 360's gpu was overheating and that it needed a new application of thermal compound. So after performing a somewhat major "operation" I lubed both my CPU and GPU with some thermal compound. I overheated my 360 and turned it on 25 minutes after it cooled. For half an hour or so it seemed to be alright until the stupid color glitch came back however this time the colors had reversed themselves, everything was bright red with cyan flashing in the background. I've been through 3 xbox 360 consoles, all of which were brought down with the 3 red rings however this one has some sort of problem that Microsoft won't fix for free. If anyone has any advice or comments that may help shed some light on my current situation please feel free to share before I lose my mind and deal with this "overheating" gpu problem by urinating all over my motherboard. Thank you.
