3rd Party Xbox 360 Hdmi Av Cable Guide
« on: November 21, 2012, 03:11:00 PM »

Thanks a lot for this tutorial!! I had this SUPER annoying problem as the OP. Drove me nuts every time I tried to switch channels or turned the TV off for a bit.

The only problem I had, is that I took off the gold bracket to get to the black plastic piece. I could've easily soldered the two points on the back without taking apart the gold bracket. So I had some trouble putting it back and bending the gold bracket back into shape. But no more reboots!!! Wooo....

so that a digital video signal goes to my LCD screen and an analog audio signal goes to my standard analog 3.5mm speakers (I know I'll need an RCA-to-3.5mm adapter)?

Can I use this cable to connect my xbox to my hdmi-enabled monitor so that a digital video signal goes to my LCD screen and an analog audio signal goes to my standard analog 3.5mm speakers (I know I'll need an RCA-to-3.5mm adapter)?

Also, thanks for the tutorial! I may need to follow it  laugh.gif

Yes, that is the exact purpose of this product.  It is a HDMI cable and an AV dongle that has both composite and optical outputs.  You will run into the same exact problems I am describing here.  If your console rebooting everytime you change video sources doesn't bother you, then you can disregard my tutorial on how to fix it.  wink.gif

Great thread. I eventually got sick of component on my 16:10 display because I could either go with black bars, or a weighted zoom which cropped a bit off each side. I knew connecting through HDMI would allow me full stretch even if the aspect was off a bit. I didn't care since I played a bunch of PS3 games and it didn't bother me, but the cropping did.

So I found a cheap $6 china knock off audio adapter and figured why not. Not surprisingly it worked and it didn't. RCA audio worked, but no HDMI video and no Toslink light so I knew the console thought it was component or VGA or whatever. Started looking around for circuit diagrams and what pins did what and found your really simple fix.

Wonder if I should look around if anyone has found my fix about how a simple jumper wire is all you need to keep controllers from thinking a headset is plugged in and locking out wireless mics from that quadrant without losing any functionality. I see like ten a week on the official forums and I should create one or find a link to send them to.

If you want to find the adapter I found for cheap it's model to google is

Microsoft X808221-001 Xbox 360 RCA Audio Adapter

Got it off buy now ebay front for $6 so can't beat that and this solder job will fix it right up.

This fixed my issue of the Xbox360 restarting itself when changing inputs on the LCD connected via HDMI.
Purchased the same item "Smiling Cat" did on eBay for a couple bucks, soldered 2 pins together, and voila!

Thanks OP.
