Hello, this is my first time posting, so if I seem like an idiot please be patient with me.

Around a week ago I started seeing odd green and red shades and lines appearing while I played CoD:WaW online. They would disapear and reapear at random. Now whenever I turn on my xbox I can hear the music/sounds of the dashboard but nothing is showing up on the screen.

At first I thought this was a problem with my T.V. or with the cables. I have tried two different T.V's and have swapped my cables for my brothers, and there was no change. After I tried this I went to the microsoft help site and they said I should try resetting my xbox to the defult setting by holding Y and the left trigger during start up, again there was no change.

I have an xbox that was bought in December 2007, and I only recently got it modded a few months ago. So I obviously can't send it back to microsoft for them to fix. Now I have heard something about the x clamp fix, but I don't really know what it is or even if it is what I need to do to fix my xbox, or even if my xbox can be fixed.

I have the same problem with my xbox as well. It's E74, just not showing up on screen. Do the heatgun fix and then do the x-clamp replacement and hope it works. It did for mine, but it is doing it again (worked for about a month) I think I need to heatgun the board a bit more.

I doubt I have access to a rework station since I don't know what one is (what is it?), and I don't think I would be able to do what is required in that tutorial. So that leaves me going to a modder to try and follow that tutorial, right?

And is this a permanent fix? or will it only work for a month or two before it happens again?

It's hard to say. Some people had better luck with it than others. A rework station basically heats up the solder underneath the chip, therefore resoldering the connections and getting rid of the error. The video is pretty easy to follow, just get some thick plastic material and some aluminum foil, isolate the rest of the board and heatgun the specific area that you need to fix (the GPU/RAM/ANA chip).

You don't have much to loose, unfortunately this is an error that doesn't go away on it's own.
