x-clamps fix on just the gpu should do fine.  if u wanna try an over heating method first, to save ur self some time.  if it does work, swap out the x-clamps, if not.....  still try it if your willing to.

im having the same issue
a buddy of mine gave me his brother in-law's xbox to fix cause he got the RROD on it and he told me its been fixed twice by some other guy he works with and decided to give it to me
so i said sure
got it home pluged it in there they were 3RROD so i over heated it for 20mins and let it cool outside since its winter  (ive done this with all the others ive fixed with no problems)
so i plug it back in and the 3 RROD is gone but no video
so i decided to open it up
got to the other RROD fix and OMG i had to use a socket wrench to get the bolts off they were so tigh i couldn't belive it, got the heat sinks of and the GPU and CPU where CAKED with grease
so i cleaned it all up took of his crappy washers and replaced them with new ones and put it all back together and still no video but sound and its not RROD'd
ive been monkeying around with it for awhile now any suggestions?
i wanna give my friend back the xbox working properly
