Weird Problem With My 360's Hdmi

The screen's resolution is 1366x768 - there's absolutely no reason for you to be choosing 1080i or 1080p, and there is nothing wrong with your cables. Use 1360x768 with VGA, since that's the native resolution, or 720p with HDMI, since that's the closest thing to 1366x786 you're going to get.

your tv's not HDCP-compliant

ok if u say it isnt compliant, then how come i can watch hddvd through my 360 over component if it wasnt hdcp ready???

if it wasnt compliant, then i wouldnt been able to watch transformers over component video or vga-hd...

i know vga will work as i have the ms hd vga cable but im using the vga for my pc

sadly i have no other hdmi devices to test... my pc has a dvi2hdmi cable runnin into the hdtv and best it can run is 720p from my card ( a xfx 9600gt xxx alphadog )... or maybee my consoles hdmi port maybee bad

one thing im sure is that my 360 shouldnt see the hdtv as a pc monitor over hdmi. ie computer resolutions
but over component video... 360 see's my hdtv as a hdtv and i can run 1080i and hd-dvd video

im going to try and send ms a ticket to see if theirs an issue with my console's hdmi cause theirs no reason why the hdmi port of my 360 fails to output 1080i and fails to play hddvd over hdmi be it in 720p/1080i

You *can't* watch HD DVDs or play games in 1080i because your TV's maximum (native) resolution is 1366x768, also HDCP has nothing to do with component video. HDCP = High-bandwidth DIGITAL Copyright Protection, component is analog. Just because your TV can accept 1080i input doesn't mean it can display 1080i, it cannot. Like I said use 1366x768 via component/analog, or 720p with HDMI.
