What Is Overscan Compensation On Rockband 2?

Overscan Compensation basically makes the image look like it's supposed too (stretches very slightly), and fills the full 16:9 area.

Never played it on a 4:3 screen...I didn't think that was even an option with RockBand.

Will I have it set in the dashboard to 1024x768 which is the projector native resolution. The projector says it only supports 4:3. The xbox 360 in the dashboard is set to 4:3. The screen is not however 100% full the left and right sides are black. When I switch the inputs to say a computer its fine though full screen. Would turning on overscan make it fit or will I need to change the aspect ratio? Even forceing to to wide screen and take up the left and right would be perferred projector only 4:3 tho.
