E74 error came back.

Your best bet will be to heatgun it, and then reinstall the x clamp fix. The 12v fan mod also doesnt hurt as it helps cool the console, especially when your playing games like COD4 and GOW2.

try loosening the screws a bit. I have found that over tightening makes the 3 lights come back after a while, the board warps and connections can break.

loosen the screws and let it overheat to 'reflow' the joints, this always works for me

the screws don't really need to be that tight, only enough to hold the heatsink flat against the gpu.

edit; i see you are getting a different error. its likely you damaged something with the heatgun

ugh, so it worked great for about a week. i have been trying to use it as much as possible watching movies and playing games to sort of stress test it before actually closing it back up in its case. since i first got it working, i have left the mobo in the metal tray/case with everything hooked up and a small window fan (10 inches in diameter) running on it constantly when its on. i had zero trouble with it until a few mins ago, all the graphics and stuff turned to red snow. i could still play the game and make out what was going on but there was red snow everywhere. keep in mind, the system had been off for several hours and it had only been on for about 5 minutes. so i hit the xbox button and the right side menu came up and i turned off the 360 (the menu did not have any red snow and came up clear). now when i turn it on i get the 1 red light and E74 error...exact problem i have been dealing with the whole time... if i leave it unplugged and turn it back on it will boot up but the screen is all screwy looking and graphics suck.

did i do something wrong? i would say my xclamp is done very well and i was extremely careful using the heatgun.

for my xclamp i used split lock washers and i screwed the heat sinks down decently tight (and yes i drilled out the bottom of the metal case so the board isn't bowed). should i try loosening them? perhaps i wasn't aggressive enough with the heatgun? has anyone had to repeat the procedure this much? sorry for all the questions...one more...should i throw in the towel and just go buy another xbox and mod the dvd player in that one too?
