I just went to play my xbox 360 that i haven't played in a couple of weeks but i had no audio or video.  I changed the television and bought new cables to no avail.  the funny thing is that i dont have any red lights,  i have the standard green lights.

i am not sure if i should try the x-clamp because i dont have the red lights...yet.  i can't send the console in cuz the warranty is void.  somebody please help cuz there are so many great games coming out that i want to play.

Billy

i have a console here with a very similar problem, but even stranger

without going into too many details, i have no video or sound in general, but it does play games and sync controllers.  you ask how do i know it play games?  well for one, the sound of the disc drive, and for two, well here's the strangest part.  i get audio, but only for a brief moment if i change the channel and change it back, then it cuts out.  it will do it everytime i flip the channel and go to back to it.  i originally figured it was the ANA chip and went to heat gun it as this has worked several times for me in the past.  as soon as i started a capacitor shot out of the board off of the ceiling like a rocket.  i am very experienced with xboxs and the heat gun, i am very positive i was doing it correctly.  but i suppose i will give the x-clamp a whirl and let you know how it goes.

thanks!

well, i tried it and it actually got worse than better.  i did a quick heat gun reflow of the gpu and did the x-clamp fix, but now it is RROD 0020.  I assume the capacitor that blew out will need to be replaced and resoldered, however, I do not believe it is the cause of the error.  Before I did the x-clamp fix, I would still get brief audio when I switched the channel to it, but now it is 0020 right away.

Any suggestions?

Heat gun method is one of the most risky way to fix your xbox if you don't do it right. I assume your motherboard is as good as trash now unless you can find out which part you burn(Probably a lots). Unless you're a great technician I doubt you'll be able to fix it.
