Try the Microsoft branded cable, it's great. All this nitrogen crap is pointless.

It could actually be a problem with your 360's scaler chip then.

You're only losing 1:1 pixel mapping, because they're aren't any Xbox 360 games that actually run at 1024x768 native. Basically your monitor will do the scaling instead of the 360. Most (all but 3) games run at 720p or lower.

Interesting update

Tonight I moved the 360 from it's normal resting spot laying horizontally on top of my pc tower.  I placed it vertically on the floor about 2 foot away from the tower.  Viola!!  Clear screen at native res.  So, was there some type of interference from the pc or the multiple wires running to and from it?  Not so sure, cause I put it back in it's normal spot a bit later and it's still good to go.  Maybe the way the vga cable was routed previously was too close to a certain pc cable and the trouble was there?  No clue but again, if that was the case why only show up at the native res and no others?  It's working like it should now so I'll leave it be.
