It's possible that they'll do the $100* repair. Don't try to get it repaired for free, since you've blown your warranty. The X-Clamp replacement *might* fix your problem, but the clamps themselves are not the real problem, the cheap lead-free solder is. There's no harm in calling and ask what they can do since your system has been opened, and your warranty voided. *Last I checked they repaired out of warranty systems for about $140. If they agree to repair it, you'll most likely get a different system back, but chances are they'll probably say no.

It is not the cheap lead free solder that is causing the 360s to break..........................................................................(only;))
Check this topic out if you are interested in the real reasons why 360s break
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=655662

You are not really lost mate if I buy a system on Ebay that actually only has got this error I am pretty happy because I know nobody tampered with it tongue.gif

Go try the X-CLamp replacement since this will be a cold solder joint in the GPU scaler([H]ANA)-chip region.
If you do mine there is a higher percentage that you fix it because it takes more care of the outer solderballs which are the ones that lead to the scaler-chip...
However if this doesnt fix it you will have to get a heatgun and reflow this certain area.
Just treat the thing like it had E74

I doubt that Microsoft will fix it for you even if you pay them but asking is free so, Good luck!

If they reject you try what I said above, you can find the links to the tutorials in my signature  happy.gif

*EDIT*
Just wanted to clarify that I am not admitting warranty fraud here, tell them that you have opened the console etc and that your warranty is gone...

oh also I read some one tried turning on the xbox for 5 minutes instead of 2 without the fan to over heat and heal the solders.

Is that recommendable or 2 minutes is good enough?

thanks

Overheating is in no way recommended since it is is never a permanent way to fix your console...
It will only soften the solder a bit and reconnect it temporarily...

Keep adjusting the screws further until you find the proper setting instead and if this doesnt work, go get a heatgun and reflow the solder probably...

And take a look on my X-Clamp replacement tutorial this is actually the most permanent way to fix 360s since it is taking the whole chip under pressure...
You can find the link to it in my signature...
