It may prevent a rrod, but if you still have warranty don't mess it up.
Personaly I would keep my warranty.

Don't void the warranty, there is still a good chance it will fail again....

Just my opinion, dont void the warranty. What if down the track your unit has a problem that is not a x-clamp related issue. I personally would keep the warranty. But once the warranty expires- go for it. Crack it open and do it.

i've done this before, and it actually gave the 360 a rrod... lol, it was about to rrod anyway is my guess. i had him bake it twice i think, still going strong.

overall, its not a bad idea. but, as the others have said, keep the warranty if you have it.

seriously, dont ever do it as a preventative measure. the x-clamp replacement method is designed to flex the motherboard in the opposite direction than the x-clamps, which is only good once the damage has been done.

if you do it now, your just going to have the same problems, and no warranty

To increase the longevity on my launch box I did the AS5 and added an external fan with external power. My idea was to save the launch box from being upgraded under warrantee to a new drive that might not be flashable.

Also if you are not handy than leave it alone.

my2cents.
