One Problem After Another
« on: June 19, 2008, 05:02:00 PM »

The box I'm working on started out with the RROD. I opened it up to do an x-clamp mod and found gobs of thermal paste on the processors and an odd 12v fan mod. After i did the x-clamp mod and removed the fan mod it gave me the RROD again. I rebooted it and it gave me one red light in the player 4 quadrant with stationary static on the screen. Once again I rebooted it and it started the intro video and froze 2 seconds into loading it. I got it to get to the homescreen eventually but it wouldn't connect any controllers so I rebooted it and now its back to freezing at various points in the intro video. Anyone know what might be going on? Thanks!

One other thing..the power button board is not whats causing the controller issue. Although the one that was on it is missing a resistor.

It's probably the 0102 error, or 0020, or possibly E74 it's just not happening before you boot the system. After several seconds of being powered on, the connection breaks, and your system freezes. This happened to my system, though it would run a little longer at first, then it turned into the "no video" problem, which I fixed with a heatgun.
