Gta Iv - Graphical Errors
« on: February 03, 2020, 09:31:00 AM »

Example of what image looks like to show problem:
  http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...red_16color.png

It also affects the xbox menu in game as well.

This happens quite frequently now, have just unlocked second (middle) island.  No problems until that point.

The only temporary fix for this is to restart the console.

Is my 360 going bad?

Thanks

I had the exact problem this time last week.

It would occur after dying in GTA4. When I resumed from outside the hospital all the textures looked like how you describe...

Even the dashboard had the problem.

It eventually turned into the "No video, just audio" problem ie I'd reboot but there wouldn't be any video only audio.
A few times it loaded fine, but then the texture problem would come back. I fixed the texture problem temporarily, by pushing on the top of the console, but this wouldn't fix it if the 360 booted with no video.

I read a heap of threads last week.. and ended up having to send it back to M$ for repairs (I didn't want to void the 3 yr warranty by opening it up). It was out of warranty so I had to pay. I'm still waiting for it to come back. The no vid. problem isn't covered under the 3yr warranty either sad.gif

Mine just fully died yesterday, with no video(black screen / white dots), audio fine.  I'm now sending to MS for repairs, luckily I'm in my first year, so it is covered.

I had the exact same problem. I do recall that I had to ship it in to MS to get it fixed, can't really recall if it gave any error messages or anything like that though.

I had the exact same problem a while ago. I had the deformed screen, I turned my console off and back on, and then I had audio but no video. Some guys over here told me that it was probably the ANA scaler chip in the console that was broken. Back then nobody knew how to fix this (and I had no warranty because I opened my console). I phoned Microsoft for repairs and I told them that I had no warranty left. They fixed it for me free of charge! Not even shipping costs! Maybe I was lucky, but maybe you can give this a try if you have no other options left...

My friend was playing on GTA 4 on his xbox premium. He says that he was watching a strip tease scene and his xbox 360 started flashing 2 red lights for over heating. He followed Microsofts advice and left it unplugged for several hours, he left it unplugged for a day, it made no difference. He sent it to me knowing im a bit of a wizz with them but im stumped. When it turns on from cold the fans start normally and then a second later they really power up and go really loud and the lights start flashing. I did the diagnostic thing with the sync button and the eject button and its flashing all four red lights really fast, i think it means there is no av. Do you think he has fried his graphics card?. Help me please

Sounds like the games overheating the GPU. I know when i play GTA4 my fans are spinning faster than most games but i havent had any problems yet but i do have talismoon whisper fans. Try changing the fans to 12v or getting whisper fans and see what affect it has. 12v fans are really loud though but they do cool it loads more than the standard voltage.

this palette issue just occurred to my release console... nothing to do with overheating whatsoever... my console was playing a movie at the time ...

sadly its looking like i have to buy a new one... guess its time to upgrade to HDMI.

That's not a new fix, and it's also the stupidest thing you can do to your system.

The fix for this problem is in the Hardware section of the forums. You need to heatgun the motherboard which will allow the solder to reflow and your problems will be solved. I don't have time to search it out right now, but just go over to the hardware section and it's there.

Im getting this issue on my 360 too... sometimes. It did it a while back with R6V2 then was fine until the other day while playing GH3. It's fine when playing RB or GH (who cares if the picture looks nasty, it's still playable), but when playing Grid or Forza it's a right pain.

Is heatgunning the mobo the only option other than buy a new 360?! Heatgunning the mobo doesn't sound like a good plan to me!

I did it the easy way... got a new 360. Old one is going on ebay for someone else to fix.

I've also got this problem.

However when I turn the console on, I get the green lights coming on like it is starting up normally. Then, nothing after that. No video, just tv asking me to plug av in. Even though it's in. I doubt it's the cable...so looks like Ineed to open this thng again. sad.gif
