Issue Displaying 4:3 On My Xbox360...
« on: February 02, 2020, 09:54:00 PM »

So, I have been dealing with an obnoxious display issue which I suspect there is a simple solution for, but I can't seem to find it.  Hopefully someone can help....

I have a 42' Panasonic plasma (720p/1080i) and the HD drive add-on for my 360.  I use component cables to talk to the display.

Here's the deal...

Everything is fantastic when I'm watching either an HD dvd or a widescreen format standard DVD.  However, if I try to play a dvd that is 4:3 formatted, it always stretches it to 16:9, which some people can tolerate, but it drives me absolutely nuts.  None of the display settings for the dvd player seem to address it and neither do the system setting for the 360.

By the way, this problem is consistent whether I am using the original drive or the HD add-on.

What am i missing?  Any advice is appreciated.

Does your TV do this automatically? You can change the aspect while watching the DVD in question, just bring up the control bar and click on the picture that looks like a letterboxed TV screen. If that doesn't work, then it's probably your TV I would assume. A lot of newer TVs remember the setting for each input.
