No Audio Or Video.. Please Help!
« on: April 20, 2008, 08:18:00 PM »

hey guys.. ive been away from here for a long time.. but just encountered a big error.. ive had my 360 about 2 years.. its in a clear case with some leds and stuff in it.. when playing mlb 2k8 yesterday (it was the backup) and then i was in the middle of a game and it sorta froze.. then the bottom of the screen went weird green and red blocks.. I restart and try to play again.. get into the game and then it happens (after aobut 2-5 mins).. then i turn it off and try to turn it back on.. now i dont get anything on my tv (tv says no input on composite 2)but all the lights and everything on the 360 look like they are fine..  Try another set of cables and that didn't work so i tried different hd dvd and bluray players in the port and everything worked.. tried another 360 and it worked (with my cables)..

so the problem is with my 360.. anyone have a quick fix? if not ill start ripping it apart and trying some stuff..

ALSO: i turn my xbox on.. and get the lights and everything.. pull out the av cable outta the back of the 360 and i dont get any lights except the main one in the middle (and controllers if there on/plugged in)..

anyone?

Getting weird graphic artifacts is the first sign of GPU overheating. Try the x clamp fix on the GPU.

Yep... graphical artifacts is a good sign it is your GPU that is going bad.  I'm just surprised it didn't follow with the 3 RROD.  That is what mine did.

ok so any chance of me repairing it? i just did the 12 cent fix (3 penny) and it still reacts the exact same way.. my buddy does have a 360 that i could possibly buy off him for like $100 (its busted (3RLOD) and i tried the 3 penny trick and it didn't bring it back)..

Or anything else i can try? thanks

Try to put pressure on the ANA-chip while booting if the screen works then it will be a problem with the ana-chip/the connection from the gpu to it...
Also try to heat up the area between the gpu and the ana-chip if the screen returns it will also be the connection(only turn your 360 on for 5 secs to quickly check out if the screen shows up because it might overheat under the heat...
If one of these things work go get yourself a heatgun and follow the instructions in this tutorial but make sure that you remove the heatsink and clean the gpu die...
