« on: April 07, 2008, 10:33:00 PM »

So i ran a hdmi to dvi cord to my monitor and my games look great, i through in a dvd and i can't watch them WTF.

First off, dvd's are not high def!!  sure they look better through my hdmi port but its not blue ray or hd-dvd

You're watching them on the actual 360 drive? HDCP has nothing to do with DVDs, DVDs only use CSS.

DVD's cannot be upscaled through a non-HDCP source. That is the rule set by the DVD forum, not by MS, so if you want to complain call them. You should be able to watch them just fine in 640*480 or 720*480. Of course there aer ways around the DVD forum rules, but nothing that will help you and your 360.

Found this thread off a google search for "secure hdcp link not found" because I'm having the same problem as the OP.

DVD's upscale fine with my vga adapter but using hdmi-dvi I'm restricted to playing games and limited Marketplace content. Yep, lots of marketplace videos are HDCP protected because of the media rights usage DRM.
