Old Xbox 360 = No Hdmi

That's an HDMI cable with an audio dongle. It would be useless for you, since you don't have an HDMI system. Have you tried 1080p over component? All 360s can do it, provided the monitor/projector supports it. You can also try VGA (if the projector allows). If neither is an option, then you can buy the MadCatz HDMI converter ($100, IIRC). Also keep in mind that only NBA Street Vol 3 and Virtua Tennis 3 (I believe) are actually rendered in 1080p. Every other game is 720p or even less.

A lot of TVs accept 1080p over component, but apparently your projector does not.  You can buy that MadCatz adapter, it comes with the HDMI cable too, I believe. Other than that, a $200+ transcoder or a new system are your only options. Again, keep in mind that there are only 2 1080p games, and they're both crap.

I don't think the Madcatz adapter will do what he is looking for. Reason being, it converts component into HDMI, not VGA into HDMI, so I don't think he will be able to pass 1080p to his PJ with it. Besides, wouldn't you rather have a $4000 PJ doing the conversion vs. a $100 adapter?

That PJ does not have a  VGA input, so that isn't an option. I think you will be best served by letting your PJ do all the conversion work. Try setting your 360 to 720p, and to 1080i and see which looks better to you.

The MadCatz converter essentially turns the 360's AV port into an HDMI port, as in analog to digital, so it should do exactly what he's trying to do. The thing is, what he's trying to do (as in use HDMI on his non-HDMI system) is essentially pointless, since A. he would need to buy this $100 adapter, and B. convert analog to digital, so it's still really an "analog image". The 360 can output 1080p over component, VGA, and HDMI, so if his projector only takes 1080p over HDMI, then it should work just fine using the MadCatz adapter. That's the whole reason behind this product, unless I'm mistaken. Still though, if he wants true, digital 1080p with his projector, then he'd be better off selling his 360 and buying an HDMI system.

I don't see why you would need 40 feet of video cable, since you get wireless controllers. If it's because you use a wired internet connection, then you'd be better off just buy 50 feet of Cat5 cable.

Right, but I think his PJ would do a much, much better job of converting the 1080i analog into 1080p digital. High end PJ's have very good scalers, I can't see a $100 3rd party adapter being all that good....

Right, that's why I say it's pointless, but if he thinks he absolutely needs 1080p coming out of his 360 (not just being deinterlaced by the projector), then this is his cheapest option.

How will I connect the video cable to the projector that's mounted on the ceiling?  I am pretty sure the cable would be a bit short tongue.gif

Anyways, thanks for helping me on this everyone.  I guess im pretty much SOL unless I buy a new xbox 360 sad.gif

Thanks for helping again,
