Im A Little Confused..
« on: January 19, 2008, 12:32:00 AM »

Alright, so Im in the market for a Xbox 360 since I can't find nothing on the PS3 that really appeals to me..

I don't know how I would feel playing the Xbox360 over a standard TV and I don't think a HDTV purchase would be the solution for me right now, so I was browsing around and seen that you can use LCD PC Monitors that cost a bit less but still give out the same quality with use of some VGA Cables

now Heres my noob question;

I wouldn't have 24/7 access to a PC..;

-could I still use a monitor setup for strictly 360 gaming without the PC by just connecting monitor and 360 together with the VGA cable?

-would I need to have a PC connected with the 360 and Monitor to get sound..

Most LCDs have built in speakers (though they aren't very good speakers most of the time), so all you need is the LCD, and a VGA cable, or HDMI cable, since all new 360s come with one, and a lot of PC LCDs have them. You don't need a PC at any point. Also, you can get some cheap desktop speakers, though you might need to get a female to female 3.5mm audio coupler.

Yeah, I was aware of some coming with internal speakers..

I was just wondering how I could get a

LCD, Xbox 360 to play without a PC around.. I know I need at least one cable, Im guessing VGA unless the LCD has HDMI?

so Its possible to produce sound without use of a PC just using LCD,360, and Speakers?

If your LCD monitor has a DVI input, you would be better off buying and HDMI to DVI cable, they are cheaper than a good VGA cable and will give you a nice digital picture.
