I Just Bought A New Tv........
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:43:00 PM »

i just bough an olevia 32' 480i hdtv, and i hooked up my xbox to it and it looks like S&*%, i connected the right cables but the image looks like it is strechted and dispropportunate (sry about spelling on that word) and it looks grainy and terrible, except when i put the aspect ratio on 1:1 which gives it a really nice look, but it buts big black ars around all sides of the screen and makes the actual image about 6 in. so is there anything i can do to make it look better?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

well, if its 480i, then its not HDTV. maybe its just a flatscreen? and the stretched problem is because the xbox is outputting native 4:3 aspect ratio for 480i, but your tv is widescreen, so its stretching the picture.

I think he means that its a 1080i HDTV. He says when its on 1:1 it makes a tiny little picture in the center, that leads me to think thats its probably an LCD, most of which are 1366*768 native.

saliva1010, have you switched the switch on your 360's AV cable from "TV" to "HDTV"? Do this then go into the system blade and change the resolution to 720p or 1080i. Of course to do this you will need the component cables, the ones with the red green and blue video connectors.
