Vga 360 Cable To Non-hd Tv
« on: December 12, 2007, 05:09:00 AM »

GTV42P4 is the model of the TV.

I know that this TV isnt HD, nor is it HDCP compliant. Apparently, the guys at Goodmans are quite simple, and didnt think that HDCP would be needed...

I got one of those DVI-D to HDMI converters for my Set Top Box, and becaue my TV doesnt recognise HDCP, I see nothing in the way of Visuals from the Set Top Box.

Is it the same with the 360? I mean, its pretty obvious they are gonna use some sort of encryption for copyright protecting, but will it be the same as my Set Top Box problem?

Ive noticed that if you try and play the 360 through a DVD Recorder, the DVD Recorder says that the content cant be recorded, so the encryption works with my DVD Recorder.

I want to get one of these VGA Cables so I can free up my RGB's, and have an extra space to put something else, so I dont have to constantly get up and change scarts in the TV when I want to watch something. The VGA 360 option also apeals to me, because it will enhance the picture somewhat.

Cheers for the help! smile.gif

if you're thinking of going VGA to DVI-D to HDMI then that will not work....

VGA and DVI-D are not compatible... VGA and DVI-I are semi-compatible but VGA and DVI-D are not.

If you've got an HDMI capable 360 and are planning to just use the HDMI port than I think it will work even without HDCP... HDCP is to keep you from recording the video stream, it does nothing to protect the data on the disc. so while HDCP is important for movie protection is worthless for video game protection... it'd basically prevent you from recording video of your gameplay and I don't think console makers/game developers really care about that.
