Okay, so I've attempted to put my own vga port on the back of my 360 3 times in the past, each time with no luck. Accepting defeat I quit trying several months ago. Now last week I upgraded my pc monitor to a 19" widescreen, and decided I had to play on this new monitor, so I gave in and bought the official ms vga cable. It arrived today and I can't get it to work. Now I'm thinking I must have ffffked something up when I attempted my diy vga port those months ago. What you should know about my box: died this past spring, but I revived it with a successful x-clamp replacement and has been working flawlessly ever since. Also, when I start up the xbox without an a/v cable plugged in, I DON'T get the four red lights, which is strange. It seems to ignore the lack of a/v connection. During those vga port attempts I hacked up my metal shielding right above the a/v port to make room for the new vga one, and I think I lost a good ground connection from the shielding around the a/v port to the metal shielding, so hopefully that is my problem. If anyone can confirm this, I would be very grateful, and I'll try to restore the ground connection, because it's a MAJOR pain in the ass to take out the motherboard and check the solder points under the port (I used RBJTech's method, aka, mobo bolted to the metal shielding).
hopefully all of that makes sense
any and all comments are appreciated
