Starts Up But Gets An "out Of Range" After A Few Seconds
« on: October 11, 2007, 11:30:00 AM »

I've been having problems with my 360 recently! At first it was the 3 Rings of Death but after a while that went away! Now, i'm getting this "Out of Range" time and time again! At first I thought it was the ring of death but after reassesing it seems like an audio/video problem!

What happens is, when I turn it on, it shows me the xbox logo start up, but just briefly! Then it shows the "Out of Range" signal on my tv, then the xbox restarts again, doing the same thing over and over again!

I tried it on another TV(non-hdtv), tried it with normal AV cables on the same tv, but still haven't tried using  different component cables yet but I would like to get input on some people that have had the same problem so I can resolve this ASAP!

So, is it really, as my hunch would have it, the component cable or is there actually something wrong with my Xbox?!

Your help is much appreciated!

out of range usually means that the refresh rate or resolution is too high for your display

this should NOT cause the console to restart which leads me to believe your console is to blame.

Hmmmm....I didn't put up the resolution or anything cuz I only use one HDTV! So is there a documented fix to this?! Or do you know what exactly is the problem with the console if that exactly is the problem?!

Considering the console reboots it's NOTHING to do with a setting. if you had set the resolution higher it would NOT reboot...

I have never heard of this problem before but I can say with good certainty that whatever the problem is it occurring inside that curvy white box... I have no idea what specifically if it's still under warranty I'd say send it in for repair.

Yea, you're right man! My friend tested my component cables on his and tested his on mine and still the same result!

Unfortunatelly it's not under warranty anymore!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)  I'm sending it to be fixed by somebody on Sunday but i'm kinda second guessing now that my problem doesn't seem to be something that's common!

Can anybody that had/has the same problem give me input on this?!

If in case yours got fixed, then please tell me what did you do to get it fixed, other than send it to MS!

Thanks!
