I know that when using a VGA - Component BNC breakout cable you don't need to use the H & V cables. Just the RGB.

It works fine for Ypbpr and I have sent a VGA signal through one of these cables using a PS2 into the component input of my plasma and then specified in the panel settings that it is a VGA signal, it displayed perfectly.

ok... So you want to build a Component to VGA converter?

I take it this is for something OTHER THAN a 360?

because if this is for a 360 then do yourself a favor and just buy a damn VGA cable

If this is for something else... then there is no way you can build your own cheaper. Yes it is possible (I've built one myself) and no Radio Shack doesn't even carry 1/4th of the parts you'll need to make it happen.

if you really want to build your own here is everything you need to know...

it will cost you between $100 to $200 to build one depending on the quality of the components you use.
