Problem With Vga Cables
« on: September 29, 2007, 01:37:00 PM »

Hi

So I decided to buy the VGA cables for my 360, and I am pretty pleased with them. I have plugged them into my TV/360 and set it to the 1280x768 resolution. The screen and picture quality looks great but there is a VERY annoying greenish tint to the screen. This happens with every resolution and I get this problem every time I use a VGA cable with this TV.

I can access the service menu (VIA Power off -> Info -> Menu -> Mute -> Power On) and there is a setting called ''PC Auto Color'' however when I run this the colors keep changing over and over again and it just seems to either run on a loop until I cancel the auto-color or sometimes it just says 'Fail'. I have seen on other forums
that this tecnique has worked for other people.

Another setting on the service menu is called 6 colors and allows you to change six different values to fine tune the color, if anyone could post their settings for this that would be great!

Another VERY annoying problem is that at certain times, with certain backgrounds, there are loads of little horizontal lines flickering.

If ANYBODY point me in the right direction for ANY of these problems, I would be VERY greatful!

Thanks so much!

Owen

i would uplug it from the tv and make sure no pins are bent or make sure the male end of the plug is clean and properly seated in the xbox

It is probably to do with the setting you are talking about. When I use VGA from my 360 on my Panasonic PH10 I have a choice of "On G" or "VBS" for the signal. If it is "on G" it is green.

"on green" refers to where your display gets it's sync signal.

some VGA devices don't actually put out sync singals to the proper pins so many Monitors will use the green color channel to sync the picture.

adding a sync signal to the green channel sometimes causes a boost in the green coloration, if the TV uses this it will know to correct for that.

either the 360 is sending out a sync on green and your monitor doesn't know to correct it or your monitor THINKS it's getting a sync on green and trying to normalize a setting that it doesn't need to.

or it could just be a faulty cable  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
