bending the X-Clamps would actually make the situation WORSE

the problem isn't that they're not tight is that they're TOO TIGHT and warp the mobo.

you want to remove them completely.

if the towel trick worked then this is the solution.

follow the removal guides in the general hardware chat board and you'll likely bring your console back to life.

I'm just used to hearing them referred to as RBJtech and lawdawg

I've never done either of them myself but I've heard countless success stories.

my dad really didnt like RBJTech's idea for some reason $:-\$ . so we made up our own custom way and for now it seems to be working fine

my dad did basically what RBJTech's idea is except he did a couple things different

he used a drill press and drilled 3mm holes through the screws that were already on the CPU and the GPU. he left them on because he said that leaving them on would leave the proper height for the heatsinks against the chips. then he took these 2mm thick rubber washers he told me he got from General Ionics because he worked there as a plumber. he put those on some 3mm screws and stuck them up through the new holes through the bottom of the motherboard. then dropped in spring washers on the top and lock nuts and thats it.

he also removed the GPU grating for room for the screws.
