Can Someone Help Me Wht My 360 Video Connection
« on: August 12, 2007, 05:31:00 PM »

I have a regular xbox360 with no hdmi ports or anything, I don't have a vga port on my tv, only HDMI and DVI,

Is there anyway to get 1080p throught component for hd-dvd's and upscale standard def dvd to 1080p? any suggestions, getting hd-dvd in 1080p instead of 1080i is not that important, but i definitely want my standard def dvd's to be upscaled

The above is a link to the tv i have

I know some peopel have mentioned using adapter to convert the video, but I don't understand it, also witha  simple google search only gives me adapters that go uptill 720p, i need to convert only if i can get 1080p

Thanks

the only way i know to get 1080p over component video is to get a samsung tv.

wut why, my new sharp tv is supposed to accept 1080p over component, it's the xbox 360 that doesn't allow it

Please stop spouting off when you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

No, you can not get any higher than 480p through component for DVD's, and you already know about the 1080i limit for HD-DVD's. Thats just the way it is, sorry. Short of buying an Elite or a new premium with HDMI, or getting a new TV with VGA you will not be able to get uspcaled DVD's from you 360.

is the DVI input a DVI-D or DVI-I
if it is a DVI-I then you can get a VGA cable and a VGA-DVI adapter

if it is a DVI-D input then you'll either have to use component cables and output at 1080i or sell your 360 and buy a new one with an HDMI port.

According to your manual , it is DVI-I, so one of these should allow you to run VGA signal to it at 1920*1080.

YUP!

if it's DVI-I go buy yourself the official MS VGA cable (don't screw around with used or 3rd party brands seriously) and grab that adapter that SphtKr76 linked to and you should be bathing in 1080p glory in no time.

For some reason my brain is telling me that it may actually come with the sound adapter, I know it comes with a VGA gender changer (which you won't need). If not, you can get them cheap at any Radio Shack.......

it should come with an audio adapter yes.

I don't have a VGA cable myself but I've heard that it does. I'm sure it's on the packaging if you go to the store and pick it up.

According to amazon.com it does too: http://www.amazon.co...;sr=8-1#gallery
