The RGB official output cable actually terminates in a SCART connector. So you would need to cut the end off and then re terminate in BNC or whatever you want = nighmare ...
An much easier way IMO is to modify the Component lead as you originally said - it has the correct ends already (replace the phono's with BNC's etc on all 4 signal wires) and then you just need to bridge from pin 22 to pin 24 and pin 26 to 28 inside the plug. (easy - see below)
The easiest way of doing this is to just bridge ALL the switch connections on the
existing switch on the stock plug (the HDTV/TV one). Composite bridges 22 to 24 (like we need) and component bridges (26 to 28) - so just bridge them both
at the same time for RGB output. Wires will already be there so no messing with the inline connectors (I know EXACTLY what you mean TwistedS..
