Vga Reference Levels Setting Doesn't Apply Sometimes..
« on: May 15, 2007, 04:10:00 AM »

after the spring update, I was relieved that the reference level fixed the washed out vga problem. I set it to to INTERMEDIATE and it looked a LOT better. I could tell because I could see the shading in some xbl Arcade icons and before the update, i couldn't because of the washed out effect. However, today i turned on my xbox 360 and everything worked fine except the washed out look was back. I checked my settings and it said INTERMEDIATE was still selected. So I changed it to Expanded and it fixed the problem. Changed it back to INTERMEDIATE and it looked even better like it shouldve before. I dont want to have to do this everytime i turn on my xbox360.. anyone else encountering htis/?

Stick with the 'expanded' video level, because that is what 'pc levels' are.  The 'intermediate level' is an uneccessary option that should not have been included in the first place.  All it is is a made up IRE level some where between the pc 0 IRE and the video 7.5 IRE.  If your HDTV does indeed accept PC levels, then by all means use the expanded.
